Summary
Buck and Eddie's relationship is new, and both have decided to keep it under wraps. Eddie takes that to mean they won't flaunt it. Buck takes it to mean that they're pretending they are both still single and just friends. Neither talks about it. Chaos ensues.

"Oh, you mean Eddie? Yeah, Eddie Diaz." And Eddie is a lot more interested in the answer now that Buck seems to have realized the man was asking about him. They haven't properly labelled it yet, but to Eddie it’s pretty clear that whatever they call their relationship, they are BuckandEddie. Except, Buck doesn't seem to share that particular thought, because he says, "Yeah, he's single."
The pang of hurt is bright and strong. But just that, a pang. It is quickly replaced by anger. If Eddie is single, he should be the first one to know, not a random patient in the middle of a scene.

“Partners” Buck answers then. “Does it bother you?”
“Of course not, Buck. It’s just… Chim, Maddie and Hen didn’t know we were dating until around a month ago.”

Which means, he thinks it's best not to let the visitors know they are dating. It doesn't work the way Derek had hoped it would.
OR, Derek and Stiles pretend they are NOT dating, and it doesn't work.

It seemed inevitable, really, that Stiles would take both their safety into his own hands, in any way he can.

You have his location?" Sofia asks, right there in his parents yard at 7 am and he nods.
"Yeah? I've had it since the tsunami." Eddie states, decidedly not thinking about one of the worst days of his entire life. He'll have to start numbering them if he does that.
"Hmmm." She starts and leans back, "And you check it before you call?"
Eddie shrugs, "Yeah, I mean if he's busy I can just text him—" and he looks at the phone and sees his own house again and grins, the little dots moving a little bit, "But he's up and home so we're good."

"No." Eddies voice calls out from next to him and he turns his head to look at the man once more and the worry must be somewhere on his face as he hears Chimneys gum pop behind him because Eddie continues, "Buck, you don't have ghosts don't listen to him."

He feels the empty side of his bed like it's a gaping hole in his chest. Feels it when he's laying down and there isn't a cuddly Buck sleeping against his chest or trying to fuse with Eddie while he slightly drools.
Eddie misses him.
But it's not the only thing he's missing.
Because he's missing so much shit that he thinks he needs to go see a doctor about his nonexistent memory issues.

Buck pauses this time, because that question has started to feel like it means more than it should. Like it’s not just about right now. Not just about him standing in a kitchen with a half empty cup and too many thoughts he hasn’t said out loud yet.
“You’ve been doing that a lot,” Buck says instead.
Eddie’s brow furrows slightly. “Doing what?”
“Watching me,” Buck says, quieter now, like he’s testing it out. “Like I’m gonna… like something’s gonna happen.”
