Enid freezes. She knows that voice. She’s watched both movies four times, each. She has all five books, three of them signed. She’s watched interviews and conferences. She turns to her iPad and there she is: Wednesday Addams. Looking at her, one eyebrow raised, head tilted slightly to the side.
“Uhh… hi?” she squeaks out, face burning and mouth gaping open.
“Hello.”

“What is your last wish?” Wednesday asks impatiently. “Surely there must be some idiotic, impractical thing you want. You humans are so very predictable in that way.”
And Enid, who’s wished on every star and comet and birthday candle she’s ever seen, looks at Wednesday now and comes up impossibly short of an answer. One wish left, anything in the world at her fingertips, and all she really wants is more time to spend with this enchanted, enchanting mystery of a girl.

Enid has her wisdom teeth removed under general anesthesia. When she wakes up still under the influence, she accidentally tells Weems that she and Wednesday are dating.
Weems doesn’t believe her, because there’s no way that Wednesday Addams is capable of that. But she also isn’t convinced that Wednesday is as cold hearted as everyone says.

“Do you feel better? Safer?” Wednesday eventually asks her. She’s quiet, not colder than usual but not with any more surprising emotions, she’s genuinely wondering.
“I do,” Enid answers. She takes a deep breath and keeps her eyes closed. “I don’t know if we’re safe, but we’re together, and that’s really all that matters.”
