Perhaps this was a good sign. A step in the right direction and away from his downwards spiral of uuuggghhhh. Because the way Mettaton saw it, he now had one of two options.
One: retreat to the lukewarm comforts of a lumpy couch until he became one with the cushions and waited until the inevitable heat death of the universe collapsed onto him to finally end the soul-crushing boredom.
Or two: watch whatever the hell was on his newly acquired TV.
Alone and bored to death, Mettaton looks for a way to pass the time while the Internet is down. Good news, he does. Bad news... uh, it’s totally normal to want to kiss your recently acquired TV, right? (asking for a friend, haha...)

At first Bella didn’t suspect anything. Normal person on a subway. But from the corner of her eye, she saw red. Literally.
This person was on the bus covered in blood. It was all over their tired work uniform (a playtime co. uniform?) and in their hair and on their face. They were holding the pink arm of a stuffed toy. She had never seen someone look so tired. She tried not to stare. They slumped onto the first seat they saw- obviously across from Bella, just her luck- and stared out of the window next to her head, eyes glazed over and unblinking. Like a corpse.
Bella shifted. The old lady and hot drink guy (the two other people on the subway) looked very interested in areas of the floor. And as if it couldn’t get any worse, as the person looked out through the window into the wintry night, the gentle sound of sniffling and tears filled the carriage.
OR
after the player escapes the factory, they take the bus home. The people on the bus are wary.

“Didn’t know I still…? Oh- heh! Y-Yeah.” He shifted his weight, embarrassed at what in his mind seemed to be getting caught. “Some habits just uh… die hard, I guess! I-I don’t do it that often anymore, especially now that I have to help teach the kids, and you know I’ve stopped drinking all together, b-but sometimes I just- When I’m stressed out, I just need to- It’s not like I’m-”
“Still the same [[dazzling new brands]] you used to smoke [[way back when]]?” Spamton gently interrupted, breaking his spiral.
A beat passed before Tenna sighed and resettled again, a tenseness in his shoulders now that made Spamton purse lips he didn’t have.

Spamton is no stranger to the fact that Tenna is the dictionary definition of a hopeless romantic. Sappy love stories and cheesy chick flicks were revered, and Valentines was easily in the CRT’s top five holidays. Not number one of course, he wasn’t sure anything could dethrone Christmas in Tenna’s eyes.
But despite all that, apparently, Tenna had never been kissed. Never been on a date, much less been in a relationship. And a little voice in the back of Spamton’s head, was cheering him on to change that.
