Still deals with in canon set up and everything, so Ilia and Weiss have the iconic childhood best friends to enemies to friends to lovers trope working for them. Main focus is on EBNI, bc that's what its all about!!!!

Honestly probably one of my favorite, if not my favorite, RWBY fics.
Weiss-centric fic featuring RWBY as a supernatural investigative police force, set in a lovecraftian universe. The world-building is very well done and is introduced to the reader in appropriate doses--explaining enough that you don't feel lost but not so much that you become overwhelmed or the rest of the story becomes boring, which is something I think a lot of writers struggle to balance. F/F fic, but romance isn't the main focus of the story. The plot is *very* well paced, and also extremely interesting. A fic where the main characters are investigating a series of crimes, and you string them together just as they do. Plus, at the end of it you can see how all the details fit together, and aren't left dissatisfied or feeling like you never could've seen anything coming. The characterization are done well, and overall I feel that all their personalities stay very true to canon, albeit adjusted to the setting. I personally am not that much of a fan of the protagonists of RWBY (the show) in general, but I loved this fic.

There's quiet, handsome Fjord, who almost seems normal until he doesn't; tiny, twitchy Nott, a klepto with a heart of silver; shy, scary Yasha, a giant of a girl who... collects flowers; gaudy, sarcastic Mollymauk, who immediately gets on Beau's nerves; and nervous, bookish Caleb, whose dark eyes betray darker secrets. Oh, and then there's Jester, who is cheerful and loud and lonely. She's there too.
Together, these seven teens cope, hurt, heal, and gradually redefine family.
