Bruce Wayne just wanted the tax season to pass quickly and uneventfully. He has forms to fill, meetings to attend, and brain cells to keep from losing. That’s not even mentioning the decrease in office morale with how messy all the numbers are this year.
So it’s not completely his fault when he quite literally stumbles on a child by his front door looking for Damian. Who knew this tax season would be the one he finds out he has a numerically competent grandson?

Those few seconds of guilt, of pity seeping through his cold expression; those were the only few seconds I had to prepare.

Jason shakes his head. “No, no, no. That’s my job.”Luckily, the stubborn kid accepts that. He wanders to the living room, dropping his backpack on the couch and pulling out a science workbook. Within seconds he’s absorbed again, pencil tapping lightly as he scribbles something far beyond his grade level.
Jason watches him, standing there, leaning in the hallway, breathing through the throb of adrenaline still grinding in his veins.He doesn’t know who touched the doorknob.
