The air reeks of fire when John walks into the Prince's bedchamber, his tail flicking behind him in a lazy coil, and lets the door swing closed. It scrapes along the floor, and while John made no effort to be quiet, he winces at the sound.
And, predictably, conjures a low, aggressive snarling from somewhere in the darkness. The dragon speaks before John can, white fire flickering in and out as his mouth moves; "So," he begins, hostility dripping from every word, "this is what they send me."

Heroes and soldiers in their hundreds have been ordered to breach the cave, to slay the monster inside, but none of those have made it out alive.
Soap has often wondered, if no one who saw the monster lived to tell the tale, how they know what it looks like, what it is.

Summary
After finding a dog abandoned by the riverside Sakura calls Kakashi-sensei to help her save him, nevermind the fact that they've barely spoken since Sasuke defected and Naruto left the village to train. When Kakashi-sensei decides to adopt the dog, Sakura asks if she can visit him sometimes, and restarts a tentative friendship between her and her ex-sensei.
Team 7 is over, Sakura hasn't seen her teammates in years, and she was never Kakashi-sensei's favourite anyways. So why isn't he treating her like the annoyance she's always believed she was?

Genuinely fine. He’s been resting, and eating three square meals a day, and “talking about his emotions” or whatever bullshit Olethra’s been talking about. He bought a journal, for fuck’s sake. He has yet to use it, but still. Everyone agrees that Maxwell’s been on the mend.
The visions that plague him every time he closes his eyes have absolutely nothing to do with that.
Or: Maxwell has a nightmare, a cup of tea, and learns to lean on his family, in that order.

Maxwell was actually quite shocked at how much there truly was. The fight had been violent, yes, but he hadn't thought it was that violent. Maybe the blood covering his face should have been his first hint, but with the way he fought most battles ended with at least some blood on his face. In fact, it was more notable when there was none.
Maxwell reached up to wipe some of the blood off his face. It was starting to get sticky and he couldn't stand the texture of dried blood, even if it was his father's.
His father's blood.
One of the last things of his father left in this world.
His father who had tried to kill Maxwell that same day.
His father who Maxwell killed.
