Summary
Zern and Gath had been at a standstill since Maxwell's childhood. It was well-known how the Queen would send mindless automata to raid their planet, broken though it was. In the almost 30 years of conflict, only one thing had been certain: no automaton that landed upon their surface spoke or thought, hearts carved from their chests. The husks of what once was, now reanimated to incur wrath upon their planet.
19 years ago, the Wind Riders worked together to put a stop to this invasion. The Core of their planet, exposed after the Fracture, was funneled into a barrier around Zern. The Wind Riders put all their mechanical and magical prowess into the event, protecting Gath from further invasion, though the scars lingered.
5 years ago, something broke through the barrier, threatening to devour the Core itself. Again, the Wind Riders ensured this beast was contained - but not without sacrifice.
Now, Maxwell Gotch was faced with something he'd never seen before, never considered: An automaton, speaking and thinking for himself, at the center of his father's Court. He wasn't going to let this opportunity go to waste. Within the crowd, unbeknownst to him, a girl made the same promise.

Summary
The automata of Zern, having been freed from one invading mind, now face countless more. The people of Gath, still unaware of the Braid, face a rash of occult phenomena. Those residing within Zood, having chosen honor and sacrifice, face an unprecedented hardship. Blanketing them all: rain.
Not long after the final battle against Straka, Torse's homeworld is besieged by a torrential downpour and his people begin succumbing to possession by the restless dead. His only solace, as he and his comrades search for the Corrodi remnants they believe to be the culprits, is the crystal telephone gifted to him by Marya before they parted.
He soon learns that crystal telephone is key to protecting himself from possession. Perhaps, with the aid of Maxwell and Marya's beloved protégés, Torse can discover the key to breaking the curse drowning three planets.

Summary
Ludmila takes great value in her ability to fix things.
Being known as the queen of destruction for an odd millennia… It's nice to be able to fix the refuse around her. To find the useful within the scrap.
Which is maybe why when Olethra comes to her for the dozenth time with the corpse of her little toad held apologetically in her grip, she merely nods her head, taking the metal into her hands.

Summary
“Have you ever heard the story of how Comfrey and I met?” he asked.
Maxwell's face fell. He wasn't good with feelings, especially grief. Daisuke's pain from Comfrey's loss was as palpable as the day she died, every inch of him echoing with love for her that had nowhere to go.
“I was the most wanted man in Pilby,” he started, his eyes glazing over as if he could see it play out in front of him. “I’d been hired to come in and steal the Prized Jewel of the Thirsty Sandman. Or the Thirty Sandmans… I can’t remember—”

In a heart to heart on the deck of the Zephyr, Daisuke tells Maxwell the story of how he and Comfrey met. Maxwell has a realisation of his feelings for Torse. -

Summary
It is extremely disconcerting to go from walking to laying down at the best of times. Maxwell just discovered that the sensation was infinitely worse when the transition between the two states was quite literally nonexistent. One moment Maxwell had been walking aboard the Zephyr Mark II and the next he was in bed in his room at the Gotch Manor. It was truly a testament to the amount of absolute bullshit that Maxwell had dealt with in the past month or so that his first reaction to being in his childhood bedroom for no reason was to just go with it.
The first clue that something was definitely wrong, was Maxwell finding his old pair of pants that got destroyed in Zern.

Summary
"I think I am tired of destroying things," Torse said slowly. "Of hurting. I want to help grow."
Maxwell's face softened. "Torse, I may not have known you for a long time, but I've known you to do very little destruction without need. Truth be told, I don't think of you as a destroyer at all."
And, well. Torse found himself staring at the ground. What was Torse supposed to do with that?
Torse spends some time reconstructing Zern and then reunites with the crew after Maxwell requests it. It is, funnily enough, through Ludmila that he finds the ability to understand his own issues and reservations. There is some dancing and sparring involved.

Summary
He has learned this lesson. He has. He can want companionship, and accept allyship. He can want trust, and accept tolerance. He can want solace, and accept shelter.
(He can want worthiness for iron, and accept gold.)
He knows better than to ask for more than he’s offered. He knows how to want so quietly no one else ever hears it. Torse is painfully aware that the transaction ends when the hand retracts.
He tightens one fist around the other, substituting pressure for heat.
-------
Or, Torse asks for what he wants. And gets it. (Physical affection. From Maxwell, specifically.) -

Summary
It starts—as most things on the Zephyr do—as a drunken bit.
“Gotch.” Van says solemnly. Her flesh hand shoots out to grip his shoulder tightly. Her eyes burn into his skull. “I’m gonna be your dad.”
Maxwell blinks. “What?”
“Your father is an absolute arse, and if he doesn’t want you, I call dibs. I’m your new da.”
Or: Longspot Gotch sucks. Van, ever the problem-solver, steps up.

Summary
“Are you awake?”
Torse, being a clockwork warrior, does not jolt like the wire-wrought mice that have recently burrowed into the Aganti Zernai’s enclaves. But when reactivating his visual function reveals a foreign green and brown earth, rich with organic life, with moisture—well. His mechanisms stall, then start again. He says, heavily, “I am.”
“Oho! Well, that’s very interesting. I wasn’t expecting us to speak a common language! Try not to move, old boy, I’ve my hand at what I believe to be your heart. Could be your brain. Or lungs.”
Self-preservation protocols keep Torse still as he reassesses the situation. His memory core remains intact, but he doesn’t need to review the sensory mess. The piercing cry of a bird made of the dead. The warping heat of the collared Calefactory Biangle.
//
Torse falls through a Biangle into an alien world. Fortunately, the first person to reanimate him is none other than the eccentric philanthropist, Cadswitch Gotch.

Summary
In the beautiful Queendom of Zoodingham, Torse is proud to be Captain of the Royal Knights. He's got an honorable job, stability for himself and his people, the respect of the citizens, and a tantalizing new relationship with a strange man he caught trespassing once or twice.
Life would be perfect if not for that damned Robin Hood, aka the Spirit of Comfrey MacLeod, making his job that much harder by the day.
On top of that, his feelings for his 'casual lover' are growing out of control and he risks complete mortification should Maxwell ever find out how much the brave knight actually likes him. That and the once kind Queen is behaving oddly. Her counsel hellbent on taxing the citizens to poverty and beyond.
Maybe life is far from perfect...
