So why does Ne Zha leave himself out of everything involving his brothers? Why does he seem to be so hesitant to engage in any sort of contact with his own father, even brief contact? Small touches have him stiffening, shooting a look at Li Jing as if asking something. As if asking what he did wrong. Like a hand resting on his shoulder inherently means bad things.
Li Jing doesn't particularly like that thought.

“You mean to tell me that you’ve been sitting here acting like an elementary school boy picking on their crush by being a complete asshole to them?!”
“He used to brush me off before that entire journey!” defended the dark furred simian as he ducked under a blast of green fire.
“That’s not the point, Macaque!” stressed MK.

“Oh, look who it is!” Wukong says, mock-cheerfully. “My best friend! Really happy to see you, bud! Where’ve you been?”
Macaque approaches cautiously. He’s not expecting Wukong to try and hurt him, he’s never raised a hand to Macaque in anger in the entire time they’ve known each other, but he’s looking manic, completely different from the Wukong Macaque knows and loves. He looks wild. “Are you...okay?” Macaque asks tentatively, wincing as soon as the words leave his mouth.
Wukong bares his teeth in a poor imitation of a smile. “Fuckin’ peachy.”
Macaque leaves, and then subsequently comes back.
