Summary
The walkie at Will’s hip crackled, as if Mike felt his ears burning. “Will,” he said, voice low.
Will unhooked the radio from his belt. Nervous energy coursed through him, and he took a deep breath before answering. “Yeah?”
“You okay down there?”
“I’m good. You?”
“Me too.” Then, a little bashful: “I got you something.”
Will’s face hurt from trying not to smile like an idiot. “Really?”
“Guys,” Lucas cut in, exasperated. “Get your own channel if you’re going to flirt.”
Mike confesses his love in subtle ways at the end of the world. It takes a minute for Will to catch up.

“How’s your boyfriend?” Mike asked, screwing up his brow as if he didn’t know his name, as if he didn’t fucking hate him. “Carlton or something?”
“We broke up,” Will said. “About a year ago, actually.”
Mike sat up straight, so quickly he nearly knocked his beer bottle off the side of the building. He fumbled for it, catching it at the last second. Will pretended he didn’t see, though he didn’t turn his head fast enough for Mike to miss his grin.
Mike and Will return to Hawkins for their high school reunion.

Will touched his cheek in concern. “You okay, Mike?”
Mike managed a jerky nod. “Yeah, fine. You’re just…” He broke off to clear his throat and finally lifted his hands to place them on the small of Will’s back. His skin was smooth and warm. Mike’s thumb moved with the dip in his spine, tracing along the curve. “You know.” Hot and on top of me.
Will smiled, pleased at that. “I do know,” he said loftily, and Mike got the sense he really did, and frequently used it against him to get his way. “But I like it when you tell me.”
Mike wakes ten years in the future, a successful novelist and in a committed relationship with Will.
