Summary
In which Astarion is an ex-olympic figure skater and Gale is a famous musician. They get paired together as Dancing on Ice's first ever same sex couple. Shenanigans ensue.

“How did you even get in? I very definitely remember locking up.”
“Ah,” Gale looks ever-so-slightly abashed. Only slightly, though. Mostly he looks a little proud of himself. “You know how the receptionist is always asleep?”
Astarion's eyebrows shoot up.
“Gale Dekarios, you shady thing.”
“I only borrowed it! He's never been awake enough to ask about spares, so. It was easier to just sort it out myself.”
“It would have been easier to ask me,” Astarion points out.
“Mmmm,” Gale hums, doubtfully. “I don't know if I'd ever consider you the ‘easier’ option, Astarion, I feel that would be doing your commitment to cantankerousness a great disservice.”
I'd be extremely easy if you weren't so fucking annoying, Astarion thinks.

“This looks wonderful, Jedediah. If I didn't know any better, I’d say you were trying to seduce me,” Octavius jokes, as he draws near.
Jedediah looks back up at him. There's a glint in those blue eyes of his. The reflection of the orange glow of the campfire. It might almost be a challenge.
“Who said anythin’ about you knowin’ better, Ocky? Sure weren't me.”-
Or; the boys finally go on a date.

Summary
“Then I suppose I should be flattered that you sought me out, though I suspect it's more for my talents than my personality. What is it you need from me this time? I'm afraid if it's money I already emptied my purse. This is a fundraiser, after all.”
“Actually I need you to stage a breakup with me.”
Gale blinks at him.
“We aren't dating.”
“For one of Mystra's Chosen you can be so very dense, Gale. I said ‘stage’, didn't I? Obviously it's going to be fake.”
Gale gives this some consideration. Astarion is glaring at him, but there's a certain… edge to it. Something almost nervous.
“Who…” Gale begins slowly, “No, perhaps more pertinently, why have you told people that we are in what I presume is some kind of romantic and probably sexual relationship?”
“I haven't told anybody anything,” Astarion snips. “But I… may have allowed a few assumptions to go unchallenged, and it may have got slightly out of hand.” -

Summary
Astarion wouldn't dare compare Gale’s very clearly lovingly maintained kitchen to a campfire and a chest of pilfered cheese and stale bread. But the feeling of it, the easy companionship, sharing the day’s burden of woes with someone who understands? That's familiar. And that, he didn't even realise he missed. Only now, watching Gale potter around his kitchen and chatter in much the same way he used to potter around the cookpot, Astarion feels… settled.
Maybe even comfortable.
Oh.
Oh dear.
Before he can stand and take his leave, go back to the contract in Calimshan and pretend this embarrassing little episode never happened, Gale sets a goblet down in front of him.
Just in passing. Drops it off on his way to the teapot. Like he thinks nothing of it.
But it's blood. Fresh, too. Pig, if Astarion's nose can be trusted, which obviously it can. He takes a tentative sip. Then downs the rest before Gale has finished pouring his tea.
“It's warm,” Astarion says, nonplussed, staring at the now-empty goblet. It would be beneath his dignity to lick it. He's no starving wretch now. But it is tempting all the same. -

Summary
“The world seems full of good men – even if there are monsters in it.” - Bram Stoker, Dracula
Usually, the long climb up the barren hillside means he sees any of his visitors coming long before they reach him. He knows all their faces too, by now; even the villagers who do not attend his services. This man is new.
He is well-dressed. Exceptionally well-dressed. Gale has seen neither cloth nor embroidery so fine since he arrived here. His stark white hair is precisely styled, the curls barely moving in the not inconsiderable wind.
He turns as Gale approaches. His hearing must be astonishing.
Gale almost does a double take. Though the fashion, when he was a boy, was to be pale, he has never seen a man as pale as this. His skin is like porcelain, like so many women would have killed to have been born with. There's something almost uncanny about it, in actuality. On the wind-blown clifftop, it makes him seem like a ghost. A beautiful ghost, undoubtedly. But a ghost, all the same.
“Good morning, and blessings be upon you,” Gale calls. The man’s placid expression twists, for a moment, into something like pain. -

Summary
Astarion glares at the Dekarios manor. It is, despite all of his irritation, quite the most beautiful building he has ever beheld. Its existence does go quite some way to explaining why Mr Dekarios had, before Astarion laid his reasoning quite so thoroughly at his feet, been so surprised to be refused.
What more could a man want from a marriage than a handsome partner, good fortune, and well-appointed estate?
Other than respect, of course.Yes this is a Pride and Prejudice plus magic fic, in which Gale is Darcy and Astarion is Elizabeth (to begin with). Beginning just after Astarion turns down Gale's proposal.

Summary
Gale yelps as Astarion's very cold fingers find his midriff. Astarion laughs, burrowing deeper under Gale's robe.
“Ah-ha, Astarion, did you take an ice bath on the way here?” Gale protests.
“Well usually I wake up to somebody very ready to warm me up.” Astarion purrs.
“You know what they say; cold hands, warm heart,” Gale says, absently.
Astarion pinches him, gently.
“Ow!” Gale protests, “What, you're allowed to come and put your hands all over me but I'm not allowed to make comments like that?”
“You can do better, love,” Astarion says, sniffily. “That was practically lazy. I'm afraid I've become accustomed to a much higher calibre of charm.”
“Are you insinuating that I have somehow spoiled you, Astarion?”
“For anyone else, absolutely,” Astarion agrees, sadly.
Shadowheart sighs.
“Glad you two are as disgusting as ever,” she says.Series

Summary
“Oh, Gale said to pass on his most fervent apologies, but he drank the last of the coffee this morning.”
“He did what?” Astarion yelps. “That-”
“Now now,” Tara scolds. “I do not tolerate name-calling in my household.”
“He’s my husband, I’ll call him what I like,” Astarion hisses, flopping despondently at the table. Having to eat three times a day is such a pain. The concept of having to make breakfast without having had caffeine momentarily defeats him. -

Summary
A remix of Act 2 in which Gale gets more of a character arc resolution.
“Gods damn it Gale!”
Astarion leaps over him. The guard, poised to land an entirely excessive final blow to Gale’s skull, topples backwards with a knife in his gut. The second pierces his neck, sending him crashing to the ground. Astarion yanks his blades back, and drops to his knees beside Gale.
“Oh no no no, you are not dying on me now.”
Gale attempts to express something, but it comes out as a gurgle of bloody bubbles. The world swings to the side, black and spinning.
“I swear, if it turns out I did just watch you spend the last of your magic sending your cat back to safety instead of saving your own damn skin-”
The threat remains unfinished. A healing potion trickles between Gale’s lips.
“Tressym,” Gale says, when he can finally trust his voice.
Astarion is still crouched over him, cheeks flushed, sweat running down his brow and someone else’s blood smeared across his cheek. Gale has the sudden urge to kiss him.
“What?”
“She’s a tressym. Not a cat.”
Astarion makes a noise of such furious, pained exasperation that Gale half expects the dagger to end up in his neck next.Series
