“You really are just like him,” she huffs. At his nonplussed look, she elaborates. “Fugaku.”
Sasuke feels his heart slide between his ribcage, compressed in his chest until he can barely feel a beat. He blinks as the world shifts out of focus, distorted like he's looking through a peephole in a door.
“Ah,” he says, with a softness that still manages to sound grating. He has nothing else to say. He’d never thought of himself as like his father, but he barely knew him. Didn’t know him as an adult, only saw him through the idealistic gaze of a child, and then as a corpse, cold on the ground.

"I kill so others don't have to," Bruce states firmly and clearly. This entire situation didn't seem like it could get any more bizarre, what with Bruce sitting in the dark and polishing guns, but somehow it just has, "While you are here you will not kill."
Jason's throat is scratchy and dry with terror, but the insatiable feeling of being talked over and disregarded is a fresh wound. He can't back down from this if he tried, "I've killed. I still kill. Who the fuck do you think you are to stop me?"
Bruce gently sets down his gun, and picks up the blade beside him with practised ease. Jason's blood runs cold when the man wearing his father's face says, "You will die by my hand if you try."
(Jason meets a version of Bruce who has manifested his fears very differently.)

Cale Henituse wakes in a different world, and it would all be according to plan if it weren't for two things: the God of Death's Mirror has disappeared into thin air, and this was not Aipotu. Instead of dragons aspiring to godhood, there's much talk of an Emperor losing his marbles, his once-beloved daughter becoming a wanted fugitive, and a vengeful ghost trying to overthrow the government. But, seriously, it's none of Cale's business.
This wasn't on the roster of worlds to save, the body he's in is half-dead, none of his allies are with him, there's a god out there that he must kill, and most importantly of all, Cale hates hard work.
If only Felix Robane hadn't forced him to come to that damn debutante ball.
