His mother did warn him of stray dogs, of mad dogs. Ones frothing at the mouth, rabid with obvious intent. They snipped at his heels. Bared teeth in wide snarls till the stench of rot wafted from their mouth.
Yuji was not too sure what it meant when they came to heel. Following so closely behind he feared he’d stumble if he changed his pace. When their mouth stayed sealed shut, not a depraved pant steaming the air, he wasn’t sure what would turn their hunger to aggression.

He can’t say he was expecting any sort of company this morning—today marks the start of the year’s end for many people, and almost all of them are headed back to warm families, familiar houses and old friends.
All Yuuji has to come back to is his one-room apartment and the occasional neighborhood cat who visits for food and affection. He doesn’t have much else to his name—just what little is left of Wasuke’s life savings and an old picture album with torn-up photographs—so Yuuji was more or less expecting to spend the holidays completely alone.
But despite the emptiness of his family registry and the New Year’s cards that never seem to amount to more than three, Yuuji has never had the chance to feel alone.
He still has that stray his granddad picked up off the streets.

From all those years ago, before Yuuji and Sukuna finally got together, Sukuna had spent years pining from afar too afraid to interact with Yuuji. Too afraid to see him be the cause of disrupting Yuuji's smile.
He bought items that he had always wanted to gift Yuuji, but he held onto them all, stashed inside a cardboard box. Now nearing Yuuji's birthday, they were finally together unlike those previous years and still, he kept the box in secrecy. However, with Uraume's recommendation, the box filled with his love was finally being unveiled.
