Eddie starts at Station 6 instead of 118, but he keeps catching glimpses of Buck and can’t help falling a little more for him each time. Then a major fire finally brings their teams together and Eddie decides he’s done waiting. He’s going to court him.

The sound cut through her sentence.
A low growl that gave Buck goosebumps
It came from somewhere just behind Buck’s shoulder, a little to the side, quiet enough that it might have been missed if not for the way it seemed to settle directly into his awareness, as though it had been meant for him specifically.
The woman didn’t even flinch.
Instead, she lifted a hand in a vague gesture and said, with almost a sheepish, guilty smile, “Okay, okay, Eddie.”
Buck blinked.
“Sorry, what?”
But she didn’t seem interested in explaining. She just turned and left.
Buck turned the other way slowly and promptly forgot how to breathe.

“I promised to stay with Bonnie if she let you go,” Buck says suddenly. His voice is low, almost quiet, and yet the words seem to fill the whole room.
A chill runs its way up the length of Eddie’s spine, and he’s frozen as Buck’s words sink in.“What?” Eddie asks, his voice quiet with a calm and control he does not feel.
Buck’s response is immediate – practised. Eddie wouldn’t be surprised if Buck had spent most of his shower mapping the course of this conversation.
“You had to get back to Christopher.” He answers immediately, and that’s all it takes. The safety of silence has been destroyed. There’s no turning back now as something hot and wild rips through Eddie’s entire body.
“And you don’t?” Eddie retorts as he whips around to finally face Buck.
