Summary
It starts as a joke. As something to cheer Buck up and because it also fulfills Fr. Brian’s assignment for him to seek joy. Perhaps the good Father didn’t mean for Eddie to consider his advice homework, but he found it easier to accept it if he took it up as an obligation. (Says a lot more about him than Eddie was ready to explore now.) He’s been aware of these popular memes for a while now, despite Chris and Buck’s popular belief that Eddie wasn’t wholly indifferent to what was ‘on trend’ or considered cool. He didn’t see the need to pander to the whims of whatever society deemed ‘popular.’
Of course, it was easier to hide what one really wanted to say behind a joke, and hopefully, the postcard(s) intended recipients understood that. That's all Eddie had to rely on now, just a tiny string of hope. But he's already seen what kind of rewards just a little faith in the family he's gathered around him could bring.

Summary
He’d thought he’d seen everything in his near-century of life, but this, this shit took the cake. Aliens he could handle; that wasn’t the problem. The problem he was having was this farce of bringing Captain America back from the dead. He didn’t have many memories of his life before Hydra and the Red Room, but he did remember that the Sentinel of Liberty had been worth more than just a PR stunt to some people. The fact that SHIELD would stoop so low was infuriating. Not that he really cared, he left the agency years ago, and Barnes no longer had a dog in this fight. Or at least that’s what he thought.

Summary
Sometimes a wife just needs to vent to a sympathetic ear. Particularly when one’s husband is so clever he’s oblivious. Doesn't it just make you want to slap him? That is, when you don't want to scream in frustration and cry because you're the wife of a Time Lord and, for him, the marriage has yet to happen. (Not to mention your parents still have no idea who you are). Time-y wimey, wibbly wobbly: Who knew such a fun thing to say (and experience) could be so damned aggravating?

Summary
She’s lived a long life, a very long life. Didn’t matter which way you cut it. In that time she was bound to bump into a familiar face or two. Perhaps even a man who made a habit of wearing multiple faces over the course of time. The appearance didn't matter she'd (nearly) always recognize him, even if he didn't always recognize her.

Summary
“Ravi, I want you to have my fours,” says Buck, before Ravi can start his own turn. All three heads at the table turn to him in incredulous unison, so he adds, “What?”
“That is simply not how the game works,” answers Ravi, dumbfounded. “How do you—are you real?”
“Don’t open that can of worms,” Eddie teases with a shake of his head. “I’m still trying to work that one out, and I was roommates with the guy.”
Barely audible, Hen mutters, “Roommates, he says. Is that what historians will call it?”
or: Eddie has a work wife. Buck has a lot to figure out.

Summary
“What if I kept her?” Evan repeats. “Like, just me.”
“Buck, what in the ever-loving fuck are you talking about?”
“You don’t want to keep her, right?” Evan says. “Which, a hundred percent, totally your call, I’m not like, trying to talk you out of it or anything but… What if— what if instead of, of putting her up for adoption, you give her to me? Or, I keep her, I guess. Since she’s like, mine. Half mine. So it’s not really giving her to me, but—”
“Buck,” Bart interrupts him. “I’m not… I can’t be a mom.”
“I know,” Evan reassures, so fast he nearly stumbles over the words.“I know, seriously. And I’m not— I wouldn’t ask you to be. I’m not asking you to be. But I think… I think I can be a dad. Or— no. I know I can be a dad. I— I want to be a dad.”
Evan forces himself to still, looking Bart straight in the eyes. Trying to communicate, wordlessly, how much he means it. How much he means all of it.
“I want to keep her,” he says.

Summary
Running to the frontlines from a childhood he never had. Taking a bat to the wall with his son in the next room. Having an affair with the spitting image of his dead wife.
Eddie knows he’s never been good at grieving, knows he’s never been good at losing what little he allows for himself in the first place. This is why he also knows his coping mechanisms can’t possibly get any worse.
Buck, as he so often does, makes him reevaluate his assumptions.
