If it wasn't for his work with the Longbottoms, Antonin would have preferred to spend his Christmas alone. At least there, he doesn't have to endure the unwanted company of those who would rather see him behind bars or, better yet, dead. Here, where lights twinkle and champagne pours free, he is as out of place as a bear at a ballet.
Likewise, Hermione isn't one for lavish parties or small talk, but she is a good friend with the determination to make an appearance, even if only for a short while. The last person she expects to run into is the man who once nearly killed her and continues to irritate her every sensibility.
Maybe it's the season. Maybe it's the drink. Or, maybe, they were always meant to meet like this.

What started as Hermione's dream career curating rare collections for London's Museum of Magical History has recently become a tiring stream of increasingly kitschy holiday artefacts. There to assist her is Charlie Weasley, who has put dragon keeping behind him in favour of staying closer to home. They're coworkers and friends, and Hermione most definitely does not have hopes for anything more.
But, when a new delivery of artefacts arrives, the two of them are forced to solve the mystery before time runs out...or too many secrets are revealed.

For instance, he never kisses her with his tongue. Like, never. She straddles his lap and cards her fingers through his ginger hair, showing a bit of Victorian ankle every time she risks slipping her tongue past her own lips. It’s like his are vacuum-sealed shut. Instead of French sophistication, she’s more like a gerbil suckling from the sippy bottle attached to the side of its cage.
She is abundant with nowhere to go.
