Chance Lawson appeared, his jacket askew, a serious expression, his hair a little disheveled, a backpack slung over one shoulder. He quickly slipped something into his jacket pocket as soon as he saw them.
Max raised an eyebrow as if she'd just discovered all the secrets of the universe.

Joyce had held him close a few minutes before they were due to leave on this treacherous mission, had wrapped an arm around her youngest son's shoulder. “We won't let anything happen to you.” She was soft-spoken, she always tended to be, no matter what, with her own children – including El. “We'll be by your side the entire time. I'll be by your side the entire time. You've got nothing to worry about.”
Will wanted to believe her more than anybody – but sometimes, especially recently, his mother didn't see reality. She didn't seem to understand that even with her by Will's side, her son was still in a lot of danger. He'd entered that mission knowing he was already half-way to his deathbed, but that was something he didn't want his mum to understand.

Will didn't need to ask Robin how she knew Vickie wanted to kiss. He needed to find out how Robin knew that Vickie wanted to date.
If the last eighteen months at the Wheelers had shown Will anything, it was that there was a great difference between the two. A dangerous chasm that Will wasn't sure Mike would ever want to cross.
He needed an expert's advice. And maybe, just maybe, he'd eventually talk to Mike.
