Summary
Ragatha had been in the Circus for far longer than most of the others assumed. Nobody ever truly cared beyond what they assumed, so the members never put too much thought into it. Ragatha could still remember her first day, years ago. One of the older members, who’s face she was slowly forgetting by now, found her stumbling around one of the hallways of the circus and took her in almost like a parent, while the rest became like a family. Back then, everyone was pretty close. Despite the whole thing, Ragatha felt.. happy, almost. Happy to get away from the past, happy to get something akin to a break from real life.
But then members started abstracting, her little found family being exchanged for people who little by little kept more and more closed off, friendship and companionship burning out with every new candle on the little altar she kept on one of the shelves in her room, made up with the deliberate look of mere decoration. Each candle was for one of her friends, each candle she picked out especially for each passed member.
(In which an unlucky adventure set on an unlucky day makes Ragatha once again grieve what she used to have)

Furina sagged with relief. The stress she had been holding in her body since first being called to Neuvilette’s office flowed out of her like an overfilled water balloon that had finally popped.
“There is, of course, one condition for my protection…”
“Anything,” Furina blurted, her heart racing like a million pitter-patters.
“You will marry Arlecchino.”
The Knave, an ever-immovable force who had been oh-so silent for the last hour, promptly choked on her tea.
Or: When the Tsaritsa's war against the world threatens the shores of Fontaine, Furina is forced back into diplomatic matters, tasked with keeping the Fatui away from Fontaine. The woman who had caught her eye a short two months ago was tall, handsome, and most definitely mysterious. At least, Furina thought so. While she had yet to build up the courage to speak with the attractive stranger, she felt such a strong pull to her. She was wonderful, and oh how badly Furina wanted her.

But not for Arlecchino, because that past made her what she was now. She let go of Furina once, but now she had all the power she needed for Furina to stay.
In which: Arlecchino and Furina shared a past 500 years ago that was kept hidden until Arlecchino came to collect what was due.
