    Summary

    Elphaba doesn’t believe in ghosts.

She wants that on record, preferably carved into stone, or at the very least immortalized in a well-reasoned essay, except no one’s ever going to read it because she’s not writing one.

    Because ghosts aren’t real.

    That said.

    That said.

She is currently pacing her apartment, burning sage, because she has, in a moment of weakness, googled “signs your apartment is haunted” and, upon reviewing the evidence, has decided that -- purely for the sake of argument -- she should cover all her bases. Just in case.

    Summary

“Tomorrow—” It should sting. Should be outrageous, and yet it’s not. It’s—oddly relieving. It makes her laugh. “Make sure to cause a ruckus, then.”

Elphaba’s eyebrows knit together, confusion flickering across her face. “I beg your pardon?”

“A ruckus,” Glinda repeats, still fighting that strange bubble of laughter in her chest. “You know—chaos, mayhem, general disruption of carefully laid plans. That’s why you’re doing it tomorrow, no?”

“Glinda.” Elphaba’s voice carries a note of wariness now. “Do you want me to cause a ruckus at your wedding? Because I will.”

Or, Elphaba visits Glinda the night before her wedding, and Glinda desperately tries to fix things.

    Summary

Elphie’s supply becomes their supply, and Galinda’s bed theirs too. When it comes time for Elphaba’s late night routine, she picks up two tangerines and makes her way over to Galinda’s bed to eat them. Sometimes she takes coursework along, sometimes a book, sometimes nothing at all. On those last occasions, it is only their chatter and voices filling the evening time. It is a routine that Galinda comes to cherish. Being able to spend more time with her friend, being allowed to share in this small piece of Elphaba’s heart. For every few slices that Elphie eats, she gives just as many to Galinda.

    Or:
As the two of them grow closer at Shiz, Elphaba's routine becomes Galinda's routine as well.

    Summary

There's a power in Glinda's voice that has nothing to do with her Goodness, or magic, or anything other than her own certainty that this moment is the one pivotal moment that could change everything. She's balanced on a precipice, two roads in front of her that lead to places she can't see. The slightest breath could upset her balance, sending her down one of them with no chance to return.
