Summary
The Phoenix symbolizes renewal, rebirth, and resurrection, emerging from the ashes of its own fiery death to be reborn anew.
This is what Robert Robertson the Third tried to see himself as: A Phoenix. After losing his identity and job as Mecha-Man, he has a chance to reemerge as Dispatcher of the notorious Z-Team, a group of dangerous criminals given a shot at being heroes.
And, while everyone else regards the Z-Team as a dumpster fire, a nuclear bomb just waiting to be set off, Robert sees something else—he sees pain, understanding, and above all, an intent to be better. He sees people who had always drawn the short stick, who bet on losing cards, and who were always regarded as less.
What Robert sees... is a group of Phoenixes.
And he'll be damned if he won't stick by every one of them, regardless of what anyone else thinks.
tldr:
Robert is highly emotionally aware and fiercely protective, refusing to give up on anyone in the Z-team, even when the stakes are high and tension is rising. They're all a bunch of fuckin' idiots, as Chase would say, but they're undoubtedly his idiots, through and through. Blonde Blazer, oddly enough, supports this change of pace.Bookmarked by Meridian96

Summary

Knowing the fate that awaits the elf, Jaina tries to navigate the letters to learn about the woman before the Scourge.
Unfortunately for her, as the letters increase and time goes by, Jaina soon discovers a second problem: she's falling in love. Messing with the timeline is wrong, and the Bronze Dragonflight won't take kindly if she inadvertently changes history, but the heart often wants what the heart wants.

There’s a string of groans, someone curses; and it feels like he’d interrupted something, but the first call comes in; and there’s no time to piece together the conversation that was happening beforehand. Even if there’s a low pang of ill placed rejection sticking to the inside of his throat.

Baby steps. Robert breathes harshly through his noise and regrets it when the entire office floods his senses; swallows a mouthful of bile and snips back at Invisigal, bitches at Flambae, and sends Golem to un-fuck someone's fuck up. Tries not to choke on his instincts and lets both his knees go numb.
Robert's always been a Omega, it's not a point of pride, it's not a point of contention. He just is.
After putting Shroud back behind bars, Robert returns to his new post coma normal: pretending nothing is wrong, orbiting the Z-Team, pretending the group of unruly Alpha's aren't his pack. Pushing himself past his already stretched thin limits.Robert's body demands a break.
And it's going to get one, whether he wants it or not.
The Z-Team do their best to pick up the pieces in the aftermath, in their own way.
