    Summary

“I’m sorry, Aglaea,” his murmur is a scratchy and weak thing, yet he has no doubt Aglaea heard him. “Did Tribbie tell you where to find me?”

A delicate hand settles in his white locks, seemingly uncaring for how greasy they must feel. “Though I may be blind, the tremors of your heart do not lie, Phainon.” She scratches at his scalp, eliciting a full-body shudder. “I could pick out the sound of your strings from thousands.”

    Summary

“I think I evened the score a bit while you were out, you know,” Phainon calls over his shoulder.
Still no response from Mydei, only the sound of corrupted flesh tearing. Phainon supposes that in itself is response enough. He yanks his sword from the neck of his last opponent and stands, trying to catch his breath. Yet his uneasiness lingers still, rising thickly into his throat.
The hairs on the back of his neck rise as his instincts scream at him to move. Corruption surges towards him from behind, and he tightens his hand on the hilt of his sword once more, whirling on his attacker—
—and he stabs Mydei straight through the upper chest, just beneath his collarbone.

Phainon and Mydei investigate a village drowned by the black tide. When Mydei falls, something else gets back up.
(or: phainon has to fight mydei's black tide-possessed corpse)

    Summary

“So…what’s the deal with you and professor Anaxa?” Stelle spoke up, side eyeing her companions who all seemed to be holding their breaths in anticipation. “Do you guys hate each other?”

Aglaea’s sightless eyes slid over to Stelle, her expression unreadable. “Certainly not. There’s simply…a difference of opinions.” Despite her calm words, her hold on her teacup tightened to the point where the delicate porcelain groaned in agony. “I’ve maintained my confidence in him regarding the protection of the coreflame over these years, even despite our…disagreements.”

Phainon exchanged an uneasy look with Stelle, shaking his head helplessly when she turned to him for answers.

“Lady Aglaea…” Castorice started meekly, shutting her mouth when Aglaea turned to look at her. Stelle would have shaken her head in disappointment if Castorice didn’t remind her of a sad, wet chimera.

A muscle ticked in the ever composed weaver’s jaw. After a moment, she let out a rueful sigh. “Fine. If you really must know…” She set her teacup back down onto the table daintily. “Anaxa is my ex fiance.”

Amidst the immediate bout of chaos that ensued after her blunt statement, Aglaea looked ten years older than usual.
