Maximilian reaches out a hand and this time Riftan doesn’t flinch away. Her palm rests on his forehead and she nearly gasps.
“Your skin… i-it’s too hot!” His skin, sheening with sweat, almost felt like he had stepped out of a giant brazier. “Do you feel like you have a fever? Why isn’t Ruth treating you for this?!“
“He's tried. This isn’t something Ruth can fix.” He murmurs, eyes fluttering closed as Maximilian combs back his sweat slicked hair with her hand. Riftan groans as Maximilian continues to fret over him. “I am in pain."

Summary
