It was like a natural disaster. He could've been a hurricane. A typhoon, an earthquake, anything really. He was a bloody fucking natural disaster of emotions. He was Tommy fucking Watson. He was his mothers son. He was no Soot. No he was no son of his father.

Tommy Watson is tired of his dysfunctional family and feeling left alone. Phil practically neglecting him, difficult brothers and his mother only sees him on weekends. He wants something of his own. He does get it, a friend group turned to a found family during one summer, his true colors pouring out but at what cost? Hanging around people his brothers despise but he's his own person. His family wants the old Tommy back but he's long gone. His eyes weren't supposed to be this tired at the start of high school.High school wasn't supposed to be this hard.

“We’re building a homeless shelter,” Technoblade blurts.
That’s not-- what?
“What?” Wilbur echoes his thoughts. That-- he doesn’t understand.
Technoblade repeats it. “We’re building a homeless shelter. It won’t be ready for a few days, but this time next week I guarantee it’ll be up and running.”
Wilbur shakes his head. This doesn’t make sense. It must be a trap, a way to gather them all in one building to make it easier to take them all.
“I promise,” Technoblade insists, “It’ll be done by then. It’ll have blankets, food, good food, a warm space, even rooms eventually.” He takes a step forward, and Wilbur staggers back. He keeps Tommy cradled against his body.
This can’t be real. It’s a trap. Technoblade is lying.

Or, Wilbur has five kids (some of whom are magic), trust issues, fiercely loyal friends and a knife against a kingdom actively trying to conscript him or kill him by any means necessary.

He had less than a year until he was pulling himself out of the system. He knows it's an awful plan, dangerous at best and a death sentence at worse, but he can't stand to bounce from house to house with promises that "this will be the one". His caseworker has said that about every single house he's been fostered in, all 17 of them, so he doesn't let the words build even the smallest bit of hope as they pull up in front of the cozy-looking house sat on the coast of Newhaven.
Legally, he can become independent at 16. Currently, he's 15. The Watson house only has to deal with him for a few months before he's gone. He just has to hold out those months until he's free.
Would that really make him free?or
Tommy Doe, ward of the state and resident "problem foster kid", plans on becoming emancipated at 16. Phil, Wilbur, and Technoblade might change that plan.

This summer Fundy would be turning two, and Wilbur has put his degree on hold a year after Sally. He has a plan to get her away from her family so they can be a proper family. Wilbur was many things, and a deadbeat dad was not going to be one of them. Because he would do anything for Sally, even if it means putting himself on the line to see her and their son thrive. Wilbur was not afraid of the months ahead of him. He knows what he has to do.
