After getting shot, Dick starts waking up in a different stage of his life. While his body stays the same, aging as the days go by. his mind shifting every time he wakes up, Some days he wakes up as a kid, ready to take on Gotham by Bruce's side; sometimes as a teen, reliving changes that were once past him; and sometimes as his adult self, with years of experience behind him.
He never wakes up past the day of his attack, never moving forward, stuck in a loop, reliving his life over and over again with no realization of what is happening to him. And during this turmoil, the only person who has been with Dick since the beginning. Bruce, who is trying to protect him from himself and the world.

That’s his pregnant husband caressing his growing belly in such a tender way that the man nearly started crying, just as he did during the first ultrasound. The issue now is that Jason is fucking terrified, the prospect of becoming a father—will he even be able to handle this? To look after Dick and his child? Would he be able to be a suitable father, or will he fail them just as Willis and Bruce had failed him? Shit, will the child even like him?
The angelic voice sings, “You’re brooding again, Little Wing. I thought you refused to be like our old man—always brooding and brooding.” To the untrained eyes, Jason’s flinch is invincible, but being one of the longest-trained vigilantes, Dick notices. He squeezes Jason’s bicep as one would squeeze a stress ball, grounding him. “Yes, you’ll be a good father; yes, our child would love you dearly as I do; yes, you will always take care of us until your last breath and; yes, you’ll be an amazing parental figure, Jay.”

Bruce opens his mouth, and then closes it again. He knows the answer to that. He believes the answer to that. He just - he can’t even form the thought. Logically he knows what Dick is suggesting, but it won’t even compute. He has spent too long preventing his mind from ever considering Dick and romance at the same time.
Dick, who doesn’t have Bruce’s feelings, also doesn’t have Bruce’s difficulties. “That’s what I thought,” he says. Despite his victory, he somehow sounds weary. “So get over yourself, and hand me the damn pocket square. I’m your date tonight, and you’d better start getting used to it.”

Summary
Dick helped. Somehow, his behavior recalled Catherine's. And that alone allowed Jason to ease Dick into his regression periods, letting him hang around, cuddling together. Even when Jason fell into his non-verbal state, Dick took it in stride, never seemingly judging him for it.
It had been indeed reassuring, but god knew how much Dick could have taken before he got sick and tired of Jason's way of behaving. So he never let himself go fully, too worried that if he did, Dick would have left him for good.
Now that he was in the body of an eight-year-old, however, he found it more than difficult to act twenty-five. He was struggling against himself, trying to keep his adult behaviour on point, but somehow his regression seemed to get the best of him.

Roy was having a relaxing evening at home, scrolling through the latest news reports on his phone. Lian was asleep, and it was just after midnight when a familiar ringing coming from his bedside table broke him out of the sleepy haze he was in. Roy reached across for the drawer, yanking it open and grabbing the extra phone. Frowning at the old flip phone he’d used during his early vigilante days, he checked to see who would possibly call this number over his new ones.
Robin calling…
Roy pressed the call button, feeling confused and irritated. Dick better not be calling drunk from some bar with Wally needing a ride.
“Hello?” He greeted grumpily into the phone.
There was a small gasp that sounded surprised before a young boy spoke, uncertainty and fear colouring his voice. “Sp-Speedy? Is that you?”
Blinking in shock at the old nickname and the familiar sound of one of his best friend’s voices that was much too young to make sense at this time of night, all Roy could respond with was “Robin?!”

The door creaked open, and it felt like Dick had been “recovering” in that bedroom for so long that, for a moment, Dick wondered if he were like Alice, or Dorothy, or Lucy, and on the other side of the door would be a strange, fantastical land—thankfully, no. What lay beyond was simply the same Manor hallway that generations of Waynes had run down... in many years past—and would, now with the first new Wayne heir in roughly four decades snoring on his chest, for many years to come.
He wondered if Mara would be remembered as a Wayne or a Grayson; he wondered how Martha Wayne née Kane had felt, watching her little boy Bruce become a Wayne first, foremost, only.
“You’ll be your own person, Mara mine."
Nineteen, newly married to his barely-former guardian, and freshly postpartum—Dick Grayson is exhausted. He misses sleep. He misses his body. He misses Robin. Now that he's given birth, things will go back to normal and he'll recapture at least some of his old freedom. Right?
