Park Jimin has it all.
A high-powered job in corporate finance that he secured immediately post-graduation from SNU, three rich and influential lovers who shower him with money and gifts, a designer wardrobe, and ownership of a penthouse in Gangnam. And yet, he cannot help but feel hollow.Despite graduating top of his class in finance at Yonsei, Park Jihoon, Jimin's identical twin brother, has a vastly different life. Married to his university sweetheart, Kim Taehyung, he lives in a small cottage on Taehyung's parents' farm in Geochang. Having initially married for love, Jihoon now finds himself depressed and disillusioned with what his life has become.
One Sunday afternoon, Jimin opens up to Jihoon about his unhappiness. Jihoon admits that he isn't particularly happy either, and jokingly suggests they swap lives. They laugh.

I finally had the courage to allow you to understand, and now…” Jimin trails off in an anguished wail.'
Jimin has been caught up in a scandal and has been forced to lay low. He turns up at Taehyung's apartment, determined to make sure that his best friend understands something important.

Taehyung learned to swim almost before he could walk. He holds a deep fascination with everything about the sea, including the mythical creatures that reside within.
Though he's never actually seen any merfolk, Taehyung has a sixth sense that alerts him to their presence.
One morning he is out swimming alone when he finally sees one from afar. Determined to get a closer look, he swims too far out and is almost killed by a fierce riptide.
The merman, however, saves Taehyung from plummeting to his death on the sea floor and takes him home to recover.
When Taehyung comes to, he is in the palace of Hoseok, the Mer-King and is being tended to by the King's brother, Jimin. Taehyung is informed that 'land-dwellers' are not allowed in the palace and so he must lay low until he is recovered enough to go home.Simple, right?
