Summary
There are three things Klaus Hargreeves knows for sure:
1. He stole a briefcase and went back in time.
2. He watched Dave Katz die right next to him.
3. He's not crazy. So, why does his family have a blank look on his face when he brings up time travel? And why did he just see Dave Katz walk out of a coffee shop, just as young as he was when he served beside him in Vietnam?
Fuck.
Maybe Klaus Hargreeves is crazy, after all.
Or maybe he just stumbled into a different timeline, one where his family is happy, one where Dave is still alive...
But Klaus soon finds out that if he wants to keep things that way, he has to do whatever the Commission wants him to do.

Summary
Things that belonged to Alec Lightwood:
New York City.
A seat at the head of every table.
And Magnus Bane.
It was something that Alec made clear to everyone who had the fortune (or misfortune) of passing through his office at “The Institute.”
The Institute served as home-base for the Lightwoods, Manhattan’s most prominent, most ruthless crime syndicate. Originally headed by Robert and Maryse, the Lightwoods’ operation was the source of varying rumors and legends, filled with daring escapes from jails, shameless, bloodied bodies left out on the cold, city streets, and the occasional wedding with at least a million-dollar price tag...
The Lightwoods were rich, wrong and beautiful—
But Magnus never thought that he’d be one of them.

Summary
“Magnus...I don’t think you understand...” Catarina moved towards Magnus, close enough to rest her palms on either side of his face. “Every Lightwood is going to die. Every last one of them. Isabelle next. Clary soon after. And...you, too...if you insist that you are one of them. So. Please. Please, Magnus. Tell me that you’re not one of them.”
“Catarina...” Magnus’ voice began to falter, as red sparks silently radiated from his hands. “My dear...have you been sent here to kill me?”
“...Yes.” Catarina’s answer came through on the end of a conspicuous sob. “I’m sorry, Magnus. I had no choice. They have Madzie. And she’s all I have left in this world.”
“Catarina—” Magnus’ response was cut short by the sound of a door being blasted right open—
And soon, he felt his own wrists being restrained, as he was forced down to his knees.

Summary
Magnus cautiously approached the loft’s entrance, his fingers gracefully pulling open his door—
And he was immediately met with Jia Penhallow’s stoic face. “Magnus Bane.”
“Jia Penhallow...how unexpected...” Magnus’ words trailed off between them. “I don’t imagine that The Clave has sent you to apologize for all of their misgivings against me?”
Jia didn’t respond to Magnus’ suggestion. Instead, she neatly folded her arms behind her back. “I’m here as an official representative of The Clave, yes, but I am not here on Clave business, I’m afraid. I’m here to report that Alec Lightwood, Head of The New York Institute, lost his life earlier in the evening. Seeing as you two were meant to be wed, I believe it’s well within your right to know about this unfortunate situation.”
Magnus felt all the breath leave his body—
And if he hadn’t been able to lean against the open doorway, he would’ve crumbled down to his knees.

“You said you loved me.”
Magnus’ hands trembled as he made his way into his loft, with Alec closely trailing behind him.
“Magnus, I—”
“No, Alexander.” Once Alec had crossed the loft’s threshold, Magnus shut its door with a swirl of blue sparks from his fingertips. “You said you loved me.”
“Magnus, I do. I do love you. More than anything—” Alec attempted to voice a response to the implied question in Magnus’ words—
But Magnus cut him off, yet again. “But you didn’t stop her...Alexander, how could you not stop her?”

Summary
Magnus would say that he first noticed it during a rather quiet evening at his loft, with Alec resting beside him, their hands intertwined against the bed-sheets. They’d decided to order in for dinner, and according to the restaurant’s tracking app, their food was nearly there. In anticipation of the order soon arriving, Magnus shifted away from his bed, moving his hand away from Alec’s palm as well...
And that’s when he felt it.
It was a short moment, barely noticeable at all. But when Magnus first began to unlace his fingers from Alec’s own, he could feel the Shadowhunter slightly grip tighter onto his hand, as if Alec wasn’t going to let go of him—
But eventually, he did.
After that night, Magnus waited for it to come back. He wondered if he’d somehow gotten it wrong. Maybe Alec was just having an off-day, maybe it truly wasn’t a cemented part of Alec’s personality...
But it soon returned with full force, in a way Magnus hadn’t expected.

Summary
It wasn’t Alec Lightwood’s fault—
Or at least that’s what he’d tried to tell his parents, anyway.
The party getting out of hand was maybe Isabelle’s fault—
Maybe even Clary’s—
But it definitely wasn’t his and he didn’t understand why he was the only one being made to pay the price.
The whole thing had started off innocent enough. One of the higher-ups at The Institute wanted to have a simple, Hawaiian themed going away party, so naturally, he called upon the most popular party planner in all of Manhattan...
The gig turned out to be one of the most expensive affairs that Alec had been trusted with to date, clocking in at around $50,000. Everything had been beautifully decorated, too, with a luau being recreated out of a large conference room, including free flowing cosmopolitans and professional dancers in shimmying, grass skirts—
And a goddamn fire pit.
God damn that goddamn fire pit.

Summary
Alec Lightwood is in the closet.
No, like, he's literally in the closet.
Magnus Bane finds out Alec is gay, by stumbling across Alec in a janitor supply closet at Alicante High...
The good news? Magnus has had a crush on Alec since the 9th grade, and Alec playing for The Other Team means that Magnus might just have a chance.
The bad news? Alec isn't really ready to come out of the closet just yet, and as his relationship with Magnus quickly progresses from complete strangers to friends-with-benefits, it seems like Alec might not be ready to come out of the closet at all...
Goddammit.

Summary
Magnus tried his best to think with his brain and not his cock, as he slowly approached Alec’s chest. “I’m sorry.”
“Are you?”
“Yes.” Magnus nodded, his hands finding Alec’s shoulders. “I’m sorry, Alexander.”
“Which part?”
“What?”
“Which part are you sorry for?” Alec’s voice had a distinct edge to it—
And it sent pleasurable shivers down Magnus’ spine. “I…every…everything?”
“Hmm.” Alec’s eyes seemed to darken, as they scanned over Magnus’ frame. “You embarrass me at dinner…you belittle a respectable job opportunity…”
“Alexander…” Magnus averted his gaze away from Alec, not able to withstand the scrutiny of his hazel eyes. “I…”
“Take off your clothes. Go and wait for me on the bed.” Alec’s phrase wasn’t a suggestion in the least, his commanding tone coming through loud and clear. “Stay on top of the sheets.”
Magnus’ stomach flipped with joy—
And with fear of the unknown—
As he headed off towards their shared bedroom.

Summary
“KARAOKE TIME!” Jace was shouting again, but Alec couldn’t place where his voice was even coming from. “First up! Magnussssss Baneeeee!”
“Fun!” Magnus clasped his hands together, as he looked up at Alec. “Sing a song with me, Alexander? Please?”
Alec blanched at the thought of embarrassing himself in front of what seemed like the entirety of the New York Downworld.
He wanted to say no, and the more seconds that passed, the more sure he was of his answer—
But then he looked back down at Magnus…
The warlock’s eyes were all adorable and pleading, with obvious hesitation etched into his expression—
Because Magnus was worried that Alec wouldn’t say yes—
And Alec’s heart twisted at the thought of letting Magnus down, especially when it came to such a harmless request. “Yes. I’ll sing with you, but just one song, okay?”
“Okay.” Magnus snapped his fingers, calling for blue sparks to appear in his palms. “Just one song.”

Summary
“Did you just call me Magnus?”
A beautiful blonde sat across from Alec, now wearing a disgusted expression on his face. “Alec, what the fuck?”
“I…um…I…” Alec tried to cover for himself, but it was no use.
An unforgivable mistake had been made.
And it was all Magnus Bane’s fault.
Alec narrowed his eyes over at Magnus, who was dutifully pouring coffee behind the counter. He hadn’t even noticed Alec when he’d walked in with his date…
Or at least he was pretending not to notice.
Alec had specifically chosen the Witchlight Café on Main Street for his first date with Not Magnus. He’d known that Magnus would be on shift, since it was around 2PM in the afternoon. And in about an hour or so, Magnus was going to need a ride back to his apartment. Typically, that’d be Alec’s job, happily escorting Magnus all around the city—
Until Alec fucked the fuck up.

Summary
“Fuck you.” Alec slightly changed his tone, his voice now reflecting how pissed off he really was. “First of all, if you own this place, it’s shit. And second of all, what makes you think you can talk to customers that way? What makes you think you can—”
“Talk to Lightwoods that way?” The stranger brightly chuckled. “I know you two are practically famous, but not to me, not in my world. In my world, you’re just a couple of assholes.”
The stranger then moved Izzy’s hair slightly out of her face, careful to place it over her shoulder. “And you should take better care of your sister. A broken heart and a fully stocked bar? Dangerous, dangerous stuff.”
As Alec was about to get out one, final fuck you—
The club’s lighting changed, allowing him to finally see the details of the stranger’s face…
And his body…
And the way his golden rings so effortlessly matched the wild stripe of dyed blonde in the stranger’s jet-black hair…
“I’ll see you around, Lightwoods.” The stranger nodded towards Izzy, before heading towards the buzzing dance-floor. “Be mindful of the paparazzi on your way out. Those creeps like to circle the block.”

Summary
“Here ya go. Appetizers on the house.” The bartender turned his focus towards Magnus, his face changing into a slight pout. “You’re cute as hell, babe, but you have to do better. I once saw Alec dump a guy for wearing an out-of-season Patek.”
“What’s a Patek?” Magnus’ question came out genuine, as he peered over at the bar’s menu.
The bartender loudly chucked, while slapping his hand against the counter-top. “Oh my God! Alec, he’s so funny! I get it now. It’s okay that he dresses like that, because he makes you laugh.”
The bartender nodded in understanding, as he made his way to the other end of the bar.
Magnus’ expression was now stoic, as he considered making a beeline for the exit...
This wasn’t going to work out.
Alec Lightwood was out of Magnus’ league. Even with actual magic at Magnus’ fingertips, he couldn’t magically develop a sense of effortless style, and he could never match Alec’s natural charisma.
They were just way too different…

Summary
Magnus softly moaned, as Alec gently pushed him towards a nearby wall.
He could soon feel Alec’s tongue venturing past his lips, seemingly wanting to explore every inch of Magnus’ mouth—
And then Magnus could feel Alec pressing his hips into Magnus’ own, applying pressure right in the very center of Magnus’ pants...
Causing Magnus to tremble and moan under his breath.
But as Alec kept going, kept applying the pressure, kept his tongue firmly in Magnus’ mouth…
Magnus’ pleasurable shivering turned fearful, as all of his insecurities rose up through his skin…
Magnus didn’t know how to do whatever came next.
He could tell that Alec wanted…something, but Magnus wasn’t prepared to give it to him.
Magnus gingerly placed his hands on Alec’s shoulders, as he shifted away from their kiss. “Sorry…I’m sorry…I don’t think I’m ready…”
Alec’s heart sank in his chest—
But he still managed to fake a smile, as he stepped away from Magnus. “It’s fine, Magnus. I get it.”

“Magnus! What happened? Are you okay?”
Magnus ignored his husband’s words, as he quietly placed his hands over his own stomach…
And his eyes soon went wide...
As he felt a very faint trace of unfamiliar magic…
Somehow coming from inside of him…
Like something was…learning…how to use its powers for the first time…
“No…no…no…no…no…” Magnus’ hands began to shake as the realization coldly washed over him. “No. It can’t be…it can’t…”

Summary
For Magnus’ entire life, he’d been told that he would know of his one, his one and only soulmate, by his tenth birthday.
And if they’d had the misfortune of being born in different parts of the world, it didn’t truly matter—
They’d still be able to feel each other’s souls, enough to naturally draw them to each other…
But Magnus hadn’t felt a thing.
He was beginning to wonder if he was the only person who’d ever been born without a one…
Maybe he didn’t deserve to have a one.
His mother had been rather upset with him for making a mess out of his bedroom last night…
Maybe this was the punishment he’d earned, after all.
Magnus’ heart ached inside his chest, as he crumpled a napkin between his fingers, trying to distract himself from the pain.

Summary
Alec tiredly stepped inside the living room, before offering Magnus an exhausted smile. “Hey. You ready for Thai time?”
“Alexander, the restaurant closed twenty minutes ago…” Magnus tried and failed to hide the disappointment in his voice, as he walked over to Alec. “But it’s…it’s okay…you should go to bed. Maybe when you wake, we can visit Thailand, see a few sights.”
“Sorry, Magnus. My morning’s already booked right through.” Alec weakly nodded, before heading towards their bedroom. “I have a meeting or two in Idris, then Penhallow wanted me to speak with the new trainees from Max’s class—”
“It’s fine, Alexander.” Magnus quietly interrupted Alec’s recitation of his work calendar. “I’ll just…we’ll just…see each other…some other day.”
“Some other day.” Alec repeated Magnus’ words, as he fully disappeared down the hallway.
Magnus took in a deep breath, before making his way to the kitchen—
And firmly holding a hand against his mouth.
He wanted to lessen the sound of his own gasping sobs.

“You can do anything, Alexander…Why do you think I admire you so? You’re unstoppable, passionate…” Magnus winced with pain, as those awful, familiar pangs returned with a vengeance.
Talking about the way he felt about Alec only made Magnus miss him even more.
“Come home. Please, please, please. Or maybe I could portal to you?” Magnus could tell that the tone of his voice was bordering on an annoying whine, but he couldn’t help himself. “I can be out of your bed before morning. I promise.”
“No, Magnus. You’re too much of a distraction.” Alec’s voice had a hint of a playful grin. “I was actually about to head to bed. I just wanted to hear your voice…But now, I should really go—”

Summary
"I pray that you all have been on your best behavior." Magnus grimaced down at Camille, before he took his seat at the dinner table. "Well, at least I pray for the rest of you. We don't want to scare off the head of the New York Institute, now, do we?"
"No, Magnus, we'd never wanna' scare off your future husband." Dot smirked over at Alec, as she drummed her fingers against the table. "We didn't scare you off, right? You'd still totally marry Magnus, right?"
"Yes." Alec answered Dot's question without any hesitation, as he locked eyes with his beautiful warlock.
Magnus shyly smiled in response to Alec's answer, and Alec thought that he saw a very familiar look of carnal desire flash across Magnus' face...
Alec could then feel his own confidence rising, as he cheerily took a sip from a nearby glass filled with wine—
Which he immediately spat back into the glass, once he realized that it wasn't wine at all.
Camille let out a thunderous laugh, as she clasped her hands together. "Welcome to the family, Shadowhunter. Vampires drink. Warlocks eat. You'll get used to it."

Summary
"Magnus..." Alec's tone was weak and wounded, as he kept his hands completely off Magnus' body. "If you want me to go...I'll go...If you really hate me now...If that's what you want..."
Magnus' sobbing only got louder, as he began to fold in on himself. "I don't hate you...I don't hate you...I love you more than there are words for, Alexander...And if you had actually been taken from me...I...I..." Magnus' gasps took over again, with his hands moving to cover his face—
Suddenly, Alec shifted Magnus' body back towards his own, as he once again leaned down to kiss his warlock.
This time, Magnus accepted Alec's kiss, but there was no longer anything gentle about it.
