Summary
Hyrule has been devastated by the war fought by the previous incarnations of the triforce spirits. The Hylian race is dwindling, and thus also the hope for the reincarnation cycle to continue.
Seeking to restore what little is left of Hyrule, the gods send the race of the Zonai down from the heavens to rebuild and rule the ravaged land. Their task is to repair the damage done by the previous incarnations, and seek the last hylian descended from the Goddess Hylia to ensure Hyrule's protector lives on for all time.
