I feel like, in a way, this fic broke me, it was painful at times and so good, and I feel such a connection to Emma in specific. I found her struggles as described in the first chapter and then the fifth and sixth to stab so deep, and unearth things about myself that I was only vaguely aware of, vaguely aware that they were there. The story was beautiful through and through, it held sadness, happiness, hope, a bit of everything, and it kind of broke me, and made me feel like there is a way forward.
I was playing "Everything is romantic (with Caroline Polachek)" by charli xcx, while reading this amazing piece, as it is a song I have seen in swanqueen edits recently, and it only cemented for me how fitting the song is for them and their relationship. Highly recommend listening to the whole song if you have only heard it in edits, even tho it's great in those angsty edits as well.
