Summary
It's a regular Monday at LLHS. Granby has something cool and definitely not school-regulation-approved in his backpack. He's also a huge dork who has an embarrassing crush on a senior. Tharkay has better shoes than him, is cool (for a human) and is going to have to pay attention in math today, which sucks extremely. Arkady has Hammond's lunch money.

It's almost Valentine's Day, so Harcourt and Granby meet up to make cards for their boyfriends. Tharkay is there too, but he's definitely not making a Valentine for anyone. Or is he? And if so, for whom?

Summary
Tharkay is determined to teach Laurence to fight with staves. And no, it's not just an excuse to get him into an outlandish "proper staff fighting" costume that shows a lot of thigh. Why would you ask?

Summary
Tharkay finds it difficult, on occasion, to relinquish the habit of always controlling the image he puts forth.
Even when maintaining it is somewhat absurd.

To be cowardly in this, to refuse to see it through, seemed more unmanly to Laurence than beginning it.

If you ever need anything, just let me know, he said.
Just go ahead and contact me, he said.
Well, Sol Tozer's right up shit creek, and running back to his ex isn't doing him any fucking good when Edward doesn't remember making Sol any promises in the first place.
Fucking typical, ain't that right?
Fuck.

Summary
“Okay,” said Emily, fully trying not to pinch her nose. “Okay, so you’re going to right click. No, not left, right. Yeah, on the little pencil icon. There you go. Now you just type into the box.”
“Type what?” asked Laurence.
“I don’t know. Whatever’s on your mind.”
“Currently, what is occupying me is how pointless this endeavor appears to be."
“Come on, you can think about something better than that. The story of how you found Temeraire! Weird old boat facts! What you had for dinner last night! Literally anything.”
Shoulders hunched, the man began to type slowly, ever so slowly, as if hunting for each individual key on the keyboard. From this Laurence began to write out something about the ocean currents of the South Atlantic. Despite his slow speed, it was astonishing how quickly he ran out of characters. “What does the red exclamation mark signify?”
Emily had told this man what the red exclamation mark signified. So. Many. Times. She thought he’d finally understood it eight months ago. “Are you getting worse at this?” she said. “How could you be getting worse at this?”
“Roland,” Laurence said, sounding immensely tired, “I am afraid you would not believe me even if I told you.”
