Here's the problem: Vox is a perpetually hungry, perpetually starving monster, hedonistic and insatiable, one that can never stop itself from wanting. It wants Hell, more and more of it, and along with that it also wants the pearly feel of Heaven in its mouth; it wants power, money, influence, and worst of all, it wants what it can't ever have.
Or: The fictional shark is always starving, and there's no better meal than venison served on a hot plate.

Summary
While foraging for supplies in a recently abandoned battlefield, the Scavengers make a shocking discovery: they find a survivor! Misfire pulls a very damaged, very angry Deadlock from the rubble. Still in denial about the loss of his squad, Krok is determined to save the wounded bot, no matter how much he growls at them.
The first several chapters are basically providing the backstory for their happy reunion on the Lost Light, many years later!

There’s a lot of things Deadlock could say.
None of them matter.
Deadlock is a reaper, tasked with collecting the souls of the dead. He knows better than anyone that the end is inevitable, and in the end, nothing matters. Life is fleeting, death is inescapable, and there is no point in hope.
There’s a lot more for him to learn from Hot Rod than he realizes.
