His is metallic, bitter iron and rust. Ilya’s is petrichor and fresh grass, soft and earthy, and it soothes Shane. His eyes are covered with a soft blindfold. He lies face down on the bed, with his head turned one way, weight resting there and on his shins, his legs bound with soft rope in a frog tie and each wrist then tied to its corresponding thigh. Ilya had stepped back at some point, maybe only a few seconds ago and maybe two hours ago, and left Shane like this. Bound, helpless, his senses narrowing to their combined scents, the cool sheets against his skin, and the feel of the rope holding him in place.
