“Bummer,” Zoey teases. “I was about to ask you to join us again, but, oh well. If you’re not interested, it can’t be—”
“I think I’d like that.” The words slip out before Rumi realises she’s said them.
OR
Rumi is, at last, ready to accept the invitation to join Mira and Zoey, now that there are no more secrets. A kiss, a touch, a taste… and then so much more. What begins as a careful exploration turns into lingering gazes, soft touches, whispered breaths, and a heat that refuses to be contained. Every caress teeters between curiosity and craving, but as their touches grow bolder, memories of being exposed on stage flare, causing panic that makes it hard to fully surrender. Trust becomes a trembling act, but with Mira's and Zoey’s patience, she learns to let herself be wanted, to let desire and vulnerability coexist, and to discover that intimacy can be safe and healing. The vampire looked down slowly at the mess on her clothes, then back up.Rumi’s heart slammed against her ribs like it wanted out.
“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me,” the girl said, her voice cold and flat.
Rumi stepped forward without thinking, pressing the flimsy paper napkin against the slick black leather covered in her lunch.
“I—I’m so sorry,” she stammered, every syllable tripping over the last. “I didn’t mean—I wasn’t looking and—”
“You didn’t mean to walk straight?” the vampire snapped, voice slicing clean through her apology. “Or use eyes that work?”
Up close, the vampire’s presence hit like a cold front.
Terrifying, her instincts offered.
Beautiful, her brain added unhelpfully.
And here she was… rubbing at her chest.
The motion was clumsy and awkward—her brain screaming at her to help clean while her hands were busy doing exactly the kind of contact you’d never want to initiate with a stranger.

"Come on, demon scum,” Zoey bounces on the balls of her feet. practically vibrating as she shifts from side to side and wipes the blood from beneath her nose. Her smile is sharp. just as clear as it was an hour ago when they had started. “You call that a hit?”
Or. Rumi clutches her hands to her sides, letting her claws dig into her palm. Celine watches her with a softening expression, taking a breath before letting it out.
“Oh Rumi” she says, cupping her cheek, the warmth of her palm sinking into her skin.
“Don’t ruin these young girls' lives. Leave them alone. They have a whole world ahead of them” Celine pulls away and heads for the door but at the last moment she turns to look back at her, “don’t let your selfishness be the thing that kills them”
or. What if Celine hadn't turned Rumi into a hunter? what if she had seen the abomination of a child that had been left to her and thought she might as well turn her into something useful.
and then set off to find the next generation of hunters.

Zoey’s hands twisted in her lap. “Like—not open relationships. Just… not just one person. Have you ever thought about being with more than one person and it still being okay?”
She wasn’t looking at Mira. Her voice was tight, like it hurt to speak. Mira watched her with a furrowed brow, still quiet.
“I feel so guilty all the time. Because I love you, Mira. I love you, and this doesn’t change that, but I see her and I want to make her smile and I want her to hold my hand and I think she’s beautiful and weird and sweet and I—”
She finally looked up, tears shining in her eyes.
“I think I ruined us. And I’m so sorry.”
Mira just stared at her. Wide-eyed. Silent.
Zoey’s heart dropped. “Say something.”
Mira exhaled like she’d been holding her breath for a month.
Then she visibly deflated—shoulders dropping, head tilting back against the wall—and let out a quiet, choked laugh.
“…Oh thank god.”

Mira marches like she’s on a mission, slow and methodical until she has Rumi’s back against the mirror wall.
Their height difference is noticeable now, and Rumi has to crane her neck back to look Mira square in the eye. She almost drowns in those simmering pools of dark black, a whimper twisting on her lips before it dives headfirst.
“Did you know… that you’re so damn pretty in these sleeveless shirts?” Mira’s voice is low and seductive, a hint of a growl present as she traces a fingertip along Rumi’s shoulder. The touch is warm, so warm, and it feels like pure electricity as Mira trails that finger along her collar, brushing up and down the bare skin of her neck before it settles right on her sternum. Mira taps her chest lightly but it might as well have felt like a blow of a hammer on her skin. She craves the touch of it, and the thought makes Rumi flush, unfamiliar with asking for such physical affection.
Rumi’s voice quivers as she answers, “R-Really…?”
