    Tango and Impulse, on the other hand, may just have gotten a little too curious to learn more about their admins dad, and are stumbling into things way over their head.

    I'm in love. The amount of care and knowledge put into this is admirable and it kind of reminds me of Pirates of the Caribbean with its world building/plot vibe, and I'm so head over heels for it. Writing is excellent, every single character is memorable and individualized somehow and I just... OAUGH

    Scar let out a heavy sigh, starting to push away from his desk before pausing for a moment, shaking his head, then leaning forward again, his quill continuing to glide along the parchment. He wasn’t ready yet, surely whoever had come to collect him could wait a few minutes longer. Or a few hours. Or a few years, actually.

    It wasn’t as if he didn’t want to go on this trip. He knew just how important it was, and how privileged he was that he got to go on it, but-

    Well, it wasn’t quite what he’d been hoping for. For a powerful mage such as himself (or, well - future powerful mage, that is) this was perhaps the most important journey he’d make in his lifetime. His pilgrimage to the Crystal Fountain, the source of magic itself, the very journey he’d spent his entire life working towards. He should be excited. He was excited.

    At least, he had been, until he found out that he wasn’t to make the journey alone.

     

    Or, in which the vex prince sets out on a magical journey of a lifetime, and an unassuming avian knight is dragged along for the ride.
    (Or, in which strangers find love in the unlikeliest of places.)

    The ghost's figure became clearer, but no easier to look at in the darkness of the night. Its form was shimmering and smoky, producing waves of heat that made any sort of clear image impossible to discern from the rest. Somehow, Jimmy couldn't look away. Two glowing red eyes, the only real feature the ghost had, held his terrified gaze, and, despite the overwhelming heat, Jimmy felt himself break into a cold sweat.

    He silently prayed that Grian and the others had hidden themselves better than he did. The smudge stick had cloaked their retreat, but it had burned out while he was still out in the open.

    The ghost stepped closer.

    Jimmy squeezed his eyes shut, preparing for the worst.

    "I want you to help me find the person who killed me."

    The amount of care, detail, and thought put into this AU always just.. blows me away. It's one of those works where if you didn't know it was fanfiction, you'd think it was a world of its own. I've read this 2 or 3 times over now, and I don't know if I'll ever tire of it or find a way to kick it out of my brain where it has lived rent-free for months. Excellent work, my friend.
