Summary

Ren's life is falling apart. He just wants to have an uneventful year in Tokyo, but it doesn't seen like that's possible.
Things have been tough for Makoto since her father was killed. She's never felt more alone.
This is a Persona 5 Royal novelization with some major changes through Makoto and Ren's perspectives.

Summary
Futaba Sakura and Yusuke Kitagawa think their forced trip to Inaba to participate in a school event is going to be normal, especially since they're visiting their friend Ren Amamiya in his home town about a year after he got caught by the police doing Phantom Thieves business. However, that thought quickly gets squashed once one of Ren's childhood friends awakens to a Persona of her own. It also doesn't help that a second group of Persona users surfaces during this time, all of them much older and much more experienced than the three Phantom Thieves present. This launches an impromptu in person Phantom Thieves reunion to figure out why they can summon their Personas once again and where this group of Persona users came from, all while Futaba slowly realizes that maybe the feelings she has for the dorky artist she's know for a year aren't as platonic as she thinks they are.

(Persona 5 Royal AU/Novelization) - Ren is a year older (17) than canon, but still approaching his 2nd year of high school at the beginning for complicated reasons. He has a history of martial arts, and a set backstory with a situation and relationships unique to him. On top of that, the first person he enters the first Palace with is also a bit different...
"In the pocket" can mean two things depending on the context:
1) Music - A perfect groove or rhythm in a song, especially when played by a group of musicians playing off of each other's energy.
2) Fighting - When a fighter stands within striking distance of someone, meaning they themselves are at risk of damage as well; a two-way danger zone.Life requires balance, an indiscernible rhythm to be observed in order to keep up with its unpredictable structure and melody. Life requires bravery, to throw oneself into the fire, knowing it is the only way things can change for the better.
How about a bizarre life, one rife with strange metaphysical phenomena and baggage? That requires much more things.
