They drive in silence for a couple of blocks, a slow meandering loop around the town that has him soothed into something a little too close to comfort when McGinnis finally speaks.
And the words - Ace thinks for a moment that he must have misheard, his own guilty conscience putting words into McGinnis’s mouth that he never would have spoken otherwise. But he says it again, clearer this time. Hands a careful line on the steering wheel as though to undercut his point.
And the bottom drops out of Ace’s world.Series

Summary
Nancy counts her days out in sorbet cartons.
Pear - the door opened by Carson whilst she hid in the other room and bit her lip until it bled to stop herself from crying at the sound of Ace’s voice.
Strawberry - Ryan nearly asked Ace in that day, caught out in a double take when he saw her desperately shaking her head until he shut the door in Ace’s face.
Peach - always peach on the worst days. The ones where she wants to sink beneath her quilt and never come out. When she tracks the hours by the sun slanting stripes across her ceiling, and the salt from her tears as she remembers the taste of his mouth, the touch of his fingers, the goddamn smile that lingered on his lips whilst he slept.
The freezer stuffed full with a love letter that she’s helpless to do anything about.

Summary
It should have been a simple arrangement.
Ace was going to need help covering expenses in his new place, and Nancy was slowly suffocating under the double parental presence of Carson and Ryan. So they’d decided to move in together (totally platonically, of course) in a quick, simple discussion over boxed wine and linguine one night after closing up The Claw.
(Too much wine, Nancy would discover the next day when she was staring at the blindingly white lease agreement through dark sunglasses and a throbbing headache.)
After all, they were already coworkers. Friends. Members of a crew that repeatedly saved the town from supernatural shenanigans and each other from certain death. So what if they add roommates to the list? How much harder could it be when they already shared so much of their lives?
