    Summary

“If you miss it, you’ll never find another chance. Blink once. Leave the window open. Keep the door unlatched. And watch as the sprawl of your front lawn bleeds before you with all the things you do not have and have not done. This is how the world ends: just one moment, and then? You’re in love.”

Jayce writes the special for his favorite customer and up and coming author Viktor. 'Ask me for my number', it reads. Very subtle, Jayce.

    Summary

Jayce stopped a few respectful feet away from their circle. He held something in his hand. A single, perfect twilight bloom, its petals a deep, velvety purple that seemed to absorb the firelight. It was a rare flower, one that only grew in high, sunny clearings.

He cleared his throat, the sound a low, nervous rumble. “I... My name is Jayce” he began, his voice slightly hoarse. He extended the flower, a tremble in his large, calloused fingers. “And I would be honored… if you would accept this. And… and my courtship.”

Viktor’s mind went blank. He opened his mouth to politely, gently, refuse. To let this magnificent bull down easy so he could find a mate worthy of him. But the words wouldn’t come. All he could see was the earnest hope in Jayce’s eyes, the nervous tremble in the hand holding the flower. This was was insane. He didn't want this. He has always been better off on his own.

    But… what if?
What if, for once, he didn’t overthink it? What if he reached out and took the ridiculous, beautiful offering? What if he allowed himself, just for a little while, to feel the warmth of that gaze, to bask in the impossible notion that someone like Jayce could want someone like him?

    Summary

Instead of sitting beside Viktor, he lays curled up on his side, his head pressed against the Zaunite’s thigh.

He hopes that everything they’ve been through is enough to be vulnerable. The truth is, in all his life he’s never been so touch starved as he is now.

Without speaking, Viktor puts a careful hand to his hair. Jayce leans into it with a tiresome sigh. He sees that response as permission to start massaging his scalp.

“I’m sorry too,” Jayce whispers, hearing himself sound small.

“I know you are,” he whispers back. “It’s alright.”

[PROMPT: Jayce and Viktor wake up from their self-sacrifice to find that they’re in what seems to be an empty world of nature. They learn to live with this, and to live with each other. (post canon fic)]

    Summary

He can play it cool. He can be entirely nonchalant about the whole thing.

It’s not like he cares what Viktor thinks about him. Not like he so badly wants to charm him, that he stresses over being unpleasant.

He really likes Viktor. Viktor’s witty, and kind, and his mind is sharp and his smile is crooked and so on. He likes his gentle laugh, his playful hands and his peppered kisses.

Of course Jayce being the way that he is, struggles to stay calm about this. He doesn’t want to mess up. He doesn’t want to ruin this, the same way he always seems to. He’s endlessly caught between oversharing and keeping distance.

    Summary

You must have heard the stories? About the merfolk, humans with fishtails, or fish with the torso of humans, however you wanted to describe them, both were correct. They acted as the shepherds of the ocean, keeping the balance.

Most humans lived a long life without ever seeing one, only stories told by the most experienced fishermen and sailors kept the belief alive.
It was not uncommon to hear that someone had caught one, but nine out of ten times the creature was dead and a fake.

But one time a fishing vessel caught one, alive.
