Summary
Pink and red streamers draped across the ceiling. The tables were covered in strawberry-patterned tablecloths. Snacks laid out in plastic strawberry bowls with a stack of paper plates and cups with little cartoony strawberries and strawberry blossoms printed on them. Red and pink polka-dotted balloons topped with green paper leaves (that Katsuki made) framed the open back patio doors. Patio furniture was shoved to the side to frame a red blow-up kiddie pool full of pink, red, and green balls. And then there was Katsuki, wearing an apron with a strawberry printed on the front while he prepped food.
Because his husband's Momsquad had suggested he pick a theme for their daughter's first birthday. And the theme was strawberries.
OR
Katsuki wants to give his daughter the best first birthday ever but SOME PEOPLE (his mother) are really testing his patience. Luckily whenever he feels adrift his family is there to bring him back to earth.

“A ball?” Eijirou’s never been to a ball. When Katsuki turned eighteen in the spring, he’d heard lots about the coming of age ball the king and queen had thrown for him - the mountains of food and the music and all the guests from far-off lands. All sorts of unfamiliar, exciting things. After the fact.
“Fine, yes, it’s a ball.” Katsuki pauses, then furrows his eyebrows. “Don’t come.”
“Come on, I didn’t even say anything.”
“Had that look on your face,” he says, tracing a finger down one of Eijirou’s perky, outstretched wings.
A ball, a prince, a dragon, and a promise to keep the bond they share far from Katsuki's duties at the palace. All Eijirou needs to break that promise for good is a little bit of magic.
