“Dying would be nicer than this cruel world.” The kid whispered, trembling as tears began to flow down their face. Kayda softened their eyes, though they were cursing the people who had hurt this child in their head, tentatively rubbing their hand through the spilt hair.
The kid looked up once more, wide eyes glossed over with tears, mouth opened slightly. Kindness was clearly not something the kid was used to, it made Kayda’s heart clench. “My roommate made hot cocoa, would you like some?” It was a blatant lie, Ender was probably taking a nap or something akin, but anything to take this kid off the streets would be good enough for Kayda.
“Hot cocoa?” The kid tilted their head, “What’s that?” Cue Kayda’s heart breaking, it was then Kayda made up their mind, they would be taking this child and hell to anyone who disagreed.

‘’What hurts?’’ Robin asks, and Finney has to bite back a choked sob.
‘’Everything.’’ He replies, eyelids drooping.
He’s so tired, the shock over Robin talking to him, and touching him, is lost.
‘’Okay,’’ Robin says quietly. ‘’Okay.’’
