Summary
Though on nights other families are hosting, there is no Aoi to lead them outside or chores for Akane-san to do. What there is to do originates from their personas, their DNA; compete. It happens all the time, from the meaningless conversations Teru starts in the hallway to the times when he places himself between Aoi and Akane-san. It’s something they’ve always done. It’s what to fight over that changes each time, but it’s really a coincidence that they share very few opinions and are passionate about most of them even less. The one thing they share in equal passion is their love for Aoi.
So when he sees her walking towards his spot in the living room, he really isn’t thrilled to be here.

“Pres?”
“I know I mentioned stuff not to say a few days ago, but I remembered other stuff earlier. Obviously, don’t tell anybody anything that the average student wouldn’t know, and just… be careful. There’s gonna be a few people that might talk to you to try and get family secrets or practices. I would prefer to be by your side the whole time, but I have to make the rounds instead of my dad now. It should only be a few minutes, then we’ll be together. ♡” Akane’s face scrunches up.
“Like I’d want that in the first place.” Teru starts the car, a sad look in his eyes that Akane doesn’t know the cause of. He doesn’t move after that.
