Summary
The Dread Pirate Verso being robbed by a beautiful merman once can be explained easily enough; mermaids are fast in the water, and it could happen to anyone.
...the second time, though? And the third?
The crew of the Lumière is starting to suspect that their captain might be into this.

Summary
On Decembre 33rd, 1905, a man's story ends: Verso Dessendre walks into a fire to save his sister and does not walk out again.
Twenty six years old and already so tired. Verso does not want to die in that fire, in that house that never felt enough like home—but then Verso's life is a long string of things which he does not want and which happen to him anyway. He picks up a brush when his mother asks him to—hides away every feeling to present the face in public that the Dessendre heir is expected to—signs his name to a marriage contract that would bind him to a woman he doesn't love. When his sister is saved—when Verso is left to fight only for himself—the secret of Verso's fate is this: when death comes to him unwanted, he does fight against it—but maybe not as hard as he could, if the masks he wore didn't already weigh so heavily.
Verso Dessendre is fated to die—his fate is written.
What is written can be edited.

Summary
Maelle grew up on stories of the Continent: Gustave's stories, from his childhood spent among the Gestrals before he came to Lumière. Thanks to him, she may be the single best prepared Expeditioner since the days of Search and Rescue. She knows what kinds of danger she should be expecting when she joins Expedition 33. The old man who finds Expedition 33 on the beach, and the slaughter that follows, is not one of those dangers.
...so why does it seem like Gustave knows something about that man—and about their Expedition as a whole—that he isn't telling her?

Summary
At the moment of Gustave's death, the latent powers of an unknowing Paintress and the stubborn determination of an older brother desperate not to leave his sister behind combine and are just powerful enough to anchor Gustave's Chroma to the Canvas. With his body beyond saving, Gustave's disembodied Chroma reaches out for any anchor he can find—
—and winds up trapped in the same body as Verso Dessendre.
(Or: In which I put Gustave and Verso in a get along shirt in acts 2 and 3, and Verso is also the shirt.)

Things that Accidentally Touch by Skoll

Summary
Otherwise known as: the 'Pledge verse.
Fic titles are stolen from two different songs: Sun in an Empty Room by The Weakerthans, and Like the Dawn by The Oh Hellos. The series title is also cribbed from that first song. I claim no originality in my naming choices, and highly recommend both songs to anybody who wants to give them a listen.

Summary
"Verso gave us many new beginnings. He would have wanted a new beginning for you, too."
—
When their world's survival hinges on the steadily crumbling relationship of his daughter-sister and the painted facsimile of her dead brother, Gustave might just have to take it upon himself to ensure they can keep it together.

Summary
Heated Rivalry meets Free! in this slow-burn swimming romance with messy feelings, competitive angst, and two idiots who take a decade to figure out they're in love.
They stared at each other. The anger had shifted into something else, something charged and dangerous that made Gustave's heart hammer for reasons that had nothing to do with the fight.
"I hate you," Gustave said. It came out wrong—not angry, almost desperate.
"I hate you too," Verso said, and his eyes were dark, intense, fixed on Gustave's face.Gustave Augustin has spent his entire swimming career finishing second to Verso Dessendre. At 18, they finally meet at French Nationals. The rivalry is instant. The attraction is unwanted. The hookup is inevitable.
The nine-year toxic situationship? That's where it gets complicated.
Because they have rules: just physical, no feelings, no one can know. They follow them religiously—until they can't anymore. Now they are forced to choose: keep hiding, or risk everything.

Summary
Monoco’s station was just as it had always been, Gommage or no. The painted curves of it flowed and trailed, one long brush stroke after another. The snow stayed, and so did the grandis, the gentle petals of iron, the curve of playful trains.
Only Monoco had left. Only they had changed. And then they’d returned, and for what? To scavenge the chroma of corpses long gone to rest? To scrape the paint from a hundred abandoned creations?
Verso was tired.
“Yes,” he said, “I could have saved him.”
Or: Maelle brings Gustave back, and accidentally ties his soul to Verso. This changes things.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have so many thoughts about this fic and not nearly enough words. It's 4AM near me. I am *so in love with this fic.*
I dearly hope I have the brain to come back and leave a proper comment on this in the morning (the other side of the morning).

Summary
Look at me, he seems to say, even as he shrinks from the firelight and Lune’s broad, gesturing arms, Look how big and scary I am. I am a big dog. I will bite.
But his eyes catch Gustave’s again, pale blue meeting bloodshot brown, and Verso’s mouth twitches, revealing a hint of fang, and Gustave thinks oh.
Verso’s an Omega.

Summary
With a startled yelp, Gustave half-throws, half-drops his phone onto the floor. It clatters onto the rug, facing upward. The women both turn toward him, their expressions mirrored in confusion. Sciel is the first to avert her gaze, looking down at the phone…
Gustave smacks his socked foot on top of the phone screen, blocking Verso from view. He will not fumble this man’s dignity. What little he has left of it, anyway—what is Verso doing?
—
Or: It's been almost a year since Verso dropped off the face of the earth. Gustave has all but given up on trying to reach out to him, until Verso finally texts him for... advice. No problem, right?
