Summary
Tim feels a bit of schadenfreude at the whole thing. He’d feel a lot more schadenfreude if he wasn’t the unlucky bastard on the other end of the chain. Why hadn’t he just gone home? Then the cuffs could’ve snapped shut on both of Jon’s wrists, and Tim would have returned to find him tied up and penitent and thoroughly incapable of skulking around like a creep until Tim damn well felt like letting him out.
After a scuffle over a mysterious package in the Archives, Jon and Tim end up locked together in a pair of handcuffs that don’t seem interested in letting them out. Surely this will end well.

Summary
The thing is that with Hermann it’s always been easy. Just a steady feeling that only seems unbelievable now that it’s gone, a certainty that Hermann would always be there snapping at his heels, complaining about his theories, dragging his drunk ass home from the party and taking his glasses off before he passed out. That’s what they’re good at. They don’t need any stupid mind-melds or big dramatic love confessions.
So what the hell are they supposed to do now that they’ve had both?
No, Newt’s not going to say anything. He’s going to shut up and wait for things to go back to normal. And if “normal” is silently pining for Hermann while knowing that it can never, ever happen— Well, he likes that, apparently. So there.
Thanks to their apocalypse-cancelling drift and its involuntary love-confessing side effects, Newt and Hermann now know that their unrequited love for each other is, in fact, very much requited. All that's left to do is say it out loud and seal the deal. There's just one problem -- them.

Jon grinds his teeth. That’s it. That’s all. He grinds his teeth, and he clenches his jaw, and sometimes, when he calls Tim into his office to ask him something, he’ll prop an elbow against his desk and lean to the side and dig his fingers into one of his temples and rub little circles there. Slowly, like he doesn’t even realize he’s doing it, and with a faint crease between his eyebrows. Tim’s libido, finally back to its pre-escitalopram levels, apparently finds this very interesting. Something about all that wound-up tension, maybe. Or the fact that, if Tim were a braver and stupider man, he could lean across Jon’s desk, cup his face, pull him forward, just a bit, and then gently, gently, work all that stress out of him with his tongue. Leave him with his eyes half-shut, lips parted, and watch as he sank down in that stupid high-backed chair all boneless and soft, breathing evenly for what’s probably the first time in weeks. Relaxed. Maybe up for getting blown.
Jon's mouth hurts, and Tim can't keep his shut.

Tim had decided, the first time he’d seen Jon pull a lockpick set out of his pocket and pick a lock in less than a minute, that he did, in fact, have a bit of a predilection toward delinquency. Particularly when said delinquent dressed like a college professor and used words like ‘ostentatious’ and ‘salient.’
The being a little bit in love with him bit had come later. But it wasn’t like Tim hadn’t seen it coming.
