The room is too bright.
It’s quaint, in a nauseating sort of way. Polished floors glint from the gleaming honeycomb chandeliers overhead, make him squint. A few vases sprinkled here and there, filling the room with a sickeningly sweet scent – even a waffle-cone headrest framing the silken sheets of a neatly-tucked bed. Outside, the golden sun gleams, the gentle rays of light spilling past curtains that waver in the afternoon breeze.
It's meant to be beautiful. Luxurious. Welcoming.
With one sweep of his cane, Shadow Milk tears it apart.

Summary
Dazai is a struggling writer in the 80s, drowning his depression in alcohol and sex, trying to escape his past.
Chuuya is a bartender at a queer bar, which he frequently sings at. But despite his passionate demeanor, he is constantly trying to fulfill his meaningless life with alcohol and his music, searching for something better.
Dazai stumbles into a bar that he had never seen before, unaware of the atmosphere around him. He silently watches as Chuuya begins to sing on stage. Dazai watches him, unsure of the feelings that arise within him as he watches this strange, yet intoxicating, redhead perform.
A story of two men searching for something more in life as they navigate sexuality, their haunting pasts, and battling the society around them during the height of the AIDS epidemic in the 80s.
