Summary
Years after a brutal alien invasion that utterly subjugated humanity and forced him into a long stint as a violent insurgent, a mentally ill ex-military amputee decides to try and murder the alien spouse the new government forced upon him. It goes horribly, and then gets worse, which is as good a recipe for character growth as any.
(traumatized asshole human learns how to live happily in unhappy times while helping his depressed government-assigned alien wifey do the same along the way. And they bang lol)

There were too many, with the same debilitating affliction. In varying degrees of severity, from unresponsive hands, to full body paralysis. The latter of which begged to be put out of their misery. The water was the source of our suffering, poisoning all life around it. Soon, the gnawing hunger and thirst dulls the senses of many. Fury, fear and despair surfaces from the minds of once honorable beings. Now driven mad, cornered and forced to act.
