"You— I'm a WayneTech employee. That's where you are: WayneTech. You're…" she pauses, picking her words, "you are an experiment. Your … brain pattern donor," the words come out uncomfortably, and he doesn't quite grasp their meaning, "he couldn't be saved. We couldn't be sure he could be saved. It was— an opportunity, it—".
"You are not Bruce Wayne." She says it like she's reminding herself. Desperately trying to convince herself. "Bruce Wayne was shot, and transferred to Wayne Biotech—"
"We didn't kill him!" She shouts, "he was dying, he— he only lived as long as he did because of us. Otherwise— he could've died in that alleyway just like his parents—"

It’s why bad things have happened to him since he was only five years old, when two nice people ask if they can drive him to an ice cream factory, and Bruce is stupid, and follows them. It’s in every friendship, like the one Bruce and his neighbour used to have, where Bruce never enjoyed doing well, and that was wrong. It’s in every reflection of himself, like the mirrors people would press him up against as they told him he was brave, and not broken, even though he was shattered long before he ever heard those words, and never put back together. It’s in every secret Bruce has ever kept, which are buried so deep within him, that he isn’t even certain he can dig them out, and doesn’t think that he wants to. It’s in every promise— whether gifted or given —because in the end every one of them is nothing but ash.
That’s okay, though, because Bruce can endure. He can endure, because he knows by now that love is enduring things, and waiting for his reward. Yes, Bruce can endure, because that’s what love is.
