John Ward is not doing well. His wife left him, he killed his closest friend while possessed by a demon, he's only delayed Gary and his nefarious schemes for the future, oh and he just found out that he may not have a soul. This is quite frankly a weird little crossover fic that I do have not concrete plans for, but I'm going to have fun writing regardless.

The past few weeks were peaceful on the surface, but he had been sinking, slowly, day after day, into an abyss of his own making. He had finally broken free from the prison he had been chained to by duty only to be locked into the heart of another on the pretense of chasing freedom and emancipation. “What were you thinking, Toshiyuki? What a fool”, he repeats to himself every day ever since. They will find him. He will find him. What is the point of this journey anyway if he were going to be constantly hunted down? Any minute now, any day, everything can crumble down, and he would die the most wretched death, and no one would find out, not even the loved ones he had left behind. Death itself does not bother him, or maybe it does but he does not have the time or the mental power to think about this yet. The wait is more pitiful, more agonizing. Waiting for it to happen has taken its toll on his weakened body. He might as well have died in Abashiri rather than spend weeks, months, or years waiting for his luck to run out. What luck? He knows it’s only a matter of time. He knows he is too weak and cowardly to even survive on the path he has chosen.
