Ezran knew he was dreaming. He had to be, to be back inside the intact throne room of Katolis, seated in the unscatched chair. The image before him of sunlight streaming through windows, hitting the red and gold of the floor runner and illuminating specks of dust in the light was peaceful, calling him to a home he no longer had.
The one aspect of the past that didn't fill him with nostalgia was the figure standing to his left side.
"What do you want?" asked Ezran, voice steady as he stared ahead.
"That's a question for you, Your Majesty." Viren was exactly as Ezran remembered him from before his father's attempted assassination: dignified and cold, any grey racing through his hair easily attributed to age, hands resting on the silver staff Ezran had grown to loathe the appearance of. "I'm merely an advisor."
