Summary
In the early morning hours of the day many dwellers in the dark enjoy their sources of dopamine. Whether that be from their digital recreations of wartime events, science fiction experiences that flirt with the weird and exotic, or the high fantasy that allows you to let go even just for a little while. Games, literature, scripts, audios, they all offer small windows into worlds we wish so badly we could plunge ourselves into, it's a freefall we all knowingly hang back from fully leaping from, equipped with the knowledge of the flat ground that waits at the bottom.
The dance between fiction and reality is a tightrope, that admittedly the thinner it becomes the more interesting it gets. Thrills join romance, horror copulates with erotica and suddenly that rock bottom doesn't seem so bad set to the keystrokes of joy and momentary bliss. So even though it's cold, even though it isn't her style, even if every cell in her body tells her not to;

Summary
After mentioning that she wants to be an Enforcer over dinner, Caitlyn is transferred from the Junior Academy to Zaun's only school to discourage her from choosing that path. During her first day, a girl named Vi begrudgingly helps Caitlyn and allows her to sit with her and her siblings, and Caitlyn develops an interest in being their friend (and... maybe (definitely) also develops a tiny (massive) crush on Vi). Despite their reservations, they accept her into their little group, and she fights to be a full part of the crew, through both high school and heists.
(Basically, Vi, Mylo, Claggor, Powder, and Caitlyn at the age they were in S1: Act 1 in high school in Zaun, featuring Caitlyn and Vi having an adorable teenage romance, Vander's kids trying to make Caitlyn into an anti-establishment delinquent (it mostly works), Vander ending up with another kid constantly hanging out in his basement, and the six of them (including Ekko) being chaotic teenagers/kids trying to find their way among a steampunk borderline-dystopia, high school, and their constant shenanigans that happen as a result of them all being chaotic little gremlins plus terminal illness and class war.)

Caitlyn couldn’t move, couldn’t breathe, couldn’t speak.
All because there she was, in front of her. Her childhood best friend, the only person who saw Caitlyn as someone other than just the famous politician’s daughter, the only person who believed in her and everything she wanted to achieve, the person who she would call if she was bleeding out on the side of the road or if she just couldn’t find the right pasta sauce in the grocery store.
Or at least, up until about five years ago.
They stared at eachother in complete and utter silence, the only sounds coming from the cold wind or the cars speeding past them. But all of those were muffled by the ringing in Caitlyn’s ears, because just what the fuck?
Seemigly breaking out of her trance, Vi lightly coughed into her hand, her eyes leaving Caitlyn’s as she shuffled a bit before speaking up.
