At least, Alicent likes to think they were friends. But the princess was always sporadic with her attentions— quick to grow bored of things, discarding the old in favor of the new. Alicent supposes that’s what happened to her, as well. She had written letters, those first few moons after she returned to Oldtown.

This blood flows like the water of the Honeywine river. And water can wash away the tragedy, it can wipe the slate clean. And thus a future calamity is avoided.
