Summary
You enjoy the freedoms of a masked life as well as any other, seems your neighbor does too. Not that you know that.
Or, you and Ghost keep the mask on at work, rarely communicating past the necessities, and you don’t know anybody when you take the mask off. So why is your neighbor so familiar? Also everyones a little ‘oops all idiots’ so suspend that disbelief.

Summary
“Can’t decide if she’s brilliant, or a liability.”
“Might be both,” Price offers, looking far too entertained by the prospect. “You remember that massive breach the CIA had, about fifteen years ago?”
Ghost nods—he’d seen the headlines when it happened; listened to the higher-ups around him whinge about the odds of MI6 being next. It hadn’t meant much to him at the time, but now…fucking hell. He’d certainly never anticipated that what the world attributed to some unidentified hacking collective would be the work of a girl who looks like she still gets carded at the pub.
“That her idea of a job application?”
“Closer to flicking the v’s,” Price smiles—less at the joke, Ghost thinks, than the strained admiration he can feel leaking into his voice. “Kept pushing intel through their firewalls until someone finally read it.”
“Someone, being…”
“Put her on Kate’s radar.”
“As a terrorist, or a potential hire?”
Price grins at him around his cigar. “Shades of grey, Lieutenant.”
She’s a curse. He’s a corpse. Somehow, this is a love story.

Summary
Aphasia: a language disorder that affects a person's ability to communicate, stemming from damage to the brain areas controlling language.
————————
The world around him quieted down.
No. He quieted down, unable to speak. A head injury took away his ability to communicate with others, and now he has to relearn it all.
No one wants a disabled man.
That’s why his family arranged for him to settle with a girl whose family didn’t want her around anymore.
⚠️This fic is currently on hold, due to the author biting off more than she can chew. (😔) Bear with me, as I will get back to this story once completing “I’m not your wife!” (also written by yours truly. Do check it out 😉)⚠️
