“I’m just teasing,” Simon says, voice gentler. Almost apologetic. Definitely still more amused than Ryland cares for. “I’m more surprised than anything.”
The sentence hangs alongside the rush of the shower, bouncing around the side of the tub. Bouncing around inside Ryland’s far too curious brain. Ryland sighs. “Why?”
Simon doesn’t point out the way his voice cracks, a small mercy. “Wasn’t sure you even bothered with lowly things like…in-flight self service.”

“Words, Grace, I don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about.” Simone rasps, eyes trained on the woman in front of her, and Grace makes another embarrassed noise.
“Sorry—! Sorry. Um. Okay.” She takes a deep breath. Simone has no clue what could be making her behave this weird. “There’s— there’s another way to help with your cramps. It’s just—” She pauses. “It’s a bit more… Unusual, in a way."
Or, when Simone is struggling with some pretty intense menstrual cramps, Grace offers a way to help her feel better.

Or when Rocky hears Simon making some concerning sounds in the Hail Mary’s bathroom, he sends Grace to go check on him, and the man is met with quite the surprise.

“Angel, Ryland, please, I’m so fucking hungry. Please let me do something, let me drink, let me eat.” Simon dug his blunt hard fingers into Grace’s side, trying to make him fucking understand, to make him fully comprehend what he was feeling, how deep he needed this, needed him. Grace looked down at him, brows creased into a casm, concern showing through his pupils “Simon, it’s not normal blood.” He said it like it was something shameful. When Simon didn’t move, or respond, Grace took his lower lip between white teeth, head dropping to the pillow behind him. His neck was on full display, allowing Simon’s eyes to run up the full expanse of his of pale semi translucent skin, to map out every artery, flowing with bitter blood. Ryland tipped his head back forward, cheeks lightly dusted with a pink blush that only served to make the sliver of blue around his dilated pupils shine so much brighter “It’s menstrual blood.”

Or: Simon drinks blood. Grace gets his menstrual cycle back. Practically a match made in heaven.

One strong arm wrapped around Grace and pulled him into a warm, solid surface as he began to sob. He’d been afraid before, but nothing had scared him as much as realizing he had no choice in the matter.
“You’re not a coward. Fear doesn’t make you a coward; it makes you human.”
“Grace not coward. Grace brave. Grace Rocky heroes, statement. And Simon.”
That elicited a laugh from Grace, which helped him to catch his breath and calm back down.
“You’re not a coward,” Simon repeated, releasing his grip on Grace before he sat back to see him better. “If that makes you a coward, then that means I’m a coward, and I may be a lot of things, but I know I’m not a coward.”
OR
Simon has dealt with nightmares his whole life, even before his exploration of AT-5. He knew Grace got them sometimes, too, but he'd never seen him have one before. That is, until he does.

Grace held his hand out, interrupting Stratt and stopping her mid-sentence. He spotted this knowing look in her eyes and felt something sour bubble up in his chest. "I have a brother. Brothers, plural, actually."
Shared looks of horror began to pull on both Yao's and Ilyukhina's expressions, and even Carl seemed to have a brief spike of…well, something, across his usually deadpan expression.
That's right, drink that in, Grace felt himself preen, if only for a moment. That small moment of hopefulness right before Stratt, in all of her clear-cut, tepid observance, shattered it.
"My understanding is that you and Colt G. Seavers are entirely estranged; and Courtland Grace is no longer with you." Stratt's voice was even and her eyes clear as day. She was not budging on this. "Would it really make a difference if you were here or aboard the Hail Mary?"
