He's discovered anew as a hot Pro Hero and he is completely unprepared for the slew of harassment that comes with it.
Luckily he has friends like family and a best friend that's a little more than a best friend by his side as he learns how to deal with this entirely new kind of (unwanted) attention.

However today, Looking at the young man who's lying unconscious on the bed — Lan Xichen realized:

...And this "others" referred to himself.

Lan Wangji feels his heart break. He wishes he could scoop the children up and hide them somewhere, where nothing will ever hurt them again. “Please, all of you eat,” he pleads. “There will always be enough from now on. It is my promise.”
“You’re too good, Hanguang-jun,” Wei Wuxian sighs. “You’ll make a wonderful father someday.”
“I will have learnt from the best,” he nods at Wei Wuxian. The man’s cheeks fill with colour so pretty, Lan Wangji has to turn away entirely in order to breathe again.

A storm thunders violently, the forest howls in pain, and children are disappearing into the night. Amongst it all, Lan Wangji encounters a strange, beautiful man. And his five children.

Wei Ying is lonely.
Deliberately excluded from not one family but two, Wei Ying struggles to find meaning living a life no one around him seems to care for.
After yet another solo outing, Wei Ying finds an unlikely companion. A white snake with a blue sheen, abused and discarded, not all that unlike himself.
Now, Wei Ying still has trouble seeing his own intrinsic worth, but with his surprisingly uptight companion depending on him, he notes that the days seem to be passing a bit easier.
Surely nothing bigger is going on that would mess this up, right?… right???

Lan Wangji's blunt fingernails dig into his palms, both fists tightly clenched. "I will not marry Wei Ying!" he declares, if only to soothe his own embarrassment.
Hanguang-jun gives him a skeptical look. "You will. Do not pretend it is unappealing to you."
"It is unappealing!" Lan Wangji springs to his feet. "I do not want him as a cultivation partner!"
A tiny sigh escapes from Hanguang-jun. "Very well, then. If you really do not want him… Wei Ying, come closer."
Wei Ying had put some distance between them when Hanguang-jun claimed Future Wei Ying as a spouse. "I… Why?"
"Kiss me and see how much you enjoy it."
"Uh-uh! No way!" Wei Ying shakes his head desperately from side to side. "I mean, unless…"
"Unless?" Hanguang-jun scoots a little bit closer.
Wei Ying eyes him suspiciously. "What if I kiss you and it does nothing for me? That'd be enough to prove your whole story is fake."
"It will not do nothing for you," Hanguang-jun says with far too much confidence. "You will like it."
